Now the coronavirus is officially a disaster ... damn
But they have given it an official name, so you know your enemy.

Its "COVID-19"

Vietnam GP now also under threat?
FORMULA ONE bosses could be forced to cancel the Vietnam Grand Prix due to the coronavirus.

The news comes after Formula One chiefs confirmed the Chinese Grand Prix would be postponed while health authorities tackle the deadly viru

There is all sorts going on to combat it, apparently HIV type antiviral drugs have been found to be effective, tho it might take a couple of years for them to get all the way through clinical trials. 2019-nCov and HIV both use RNA, rather than DNA, as their genetic material.
"In recent years, perhaps encouraged by the successful development of HIV anti-virals, which proved it might be feasible to do more, our armamentarium has greatly expanded," Morse said. Even so, developing brand-new drugs requires a huge investment of both time and resources, he added. So "while you're waiting for the new miracle drug, it's worthwhile looking for existing drugs that could be repurposed" to treat new viruses, Morse told Live Science.

That's exactly the route doctors took to treat a 35-year-old man in Washington state, the first U.S. patient to have been infected with the new coronavirus. When his symptoms worsened, the man was given an unapproved antiviral drug called remdesivir that was originally developed to treat Ebola, according to a case report published Jan. 31 in The New England Journal of Medicine.

Doctors gave this drug to the patient by making a "compassionate use" request to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which allows experimental drugs to be given to people outside of clinical trials, usually in emergency situations. The patient, who was recently released from the hospital, didn't seem to experience any side effects of the drug.

Now its been dropped, Liberty have a chance to look really good and add a race in april at somewhere like Imola, Mugello, Magny Cours, Hockenheim, Nurburgring, Estoril. Make it cheap if not free for the circuit to host, under the terms that a large percentage of ticket prices go towards the Coronavirus.

Surely that makes Liberty look fantastic. The fans get the race they would love, the teams dont have far to travel to the circuit. Its win win surely.

Ten thousand Vietnamese in quarantine

Vietnam has decided to quarantine 10,000 civilians in villages some 40 kilometers from the capital Hanoi, due to an outbreak of coronavirus in the region. In the Son Loi community, people have died from the effects of the virus.

The authorities have therefore decided to close the villages from the outside world for a period of 20 days. It is the first time that such a large-scale quarantine is taking place outside of China (excluding cruise ships).

Yes, that is concern nr.1

One race in Vietnam, people come back infected and then the whole F1 paddock is in quarantine for months

However, the article does not state that the circuit needs to be properly renovated and that they think
they don't have enough time for that.

Doesn't Imola still hold grade one status with the FIA though ?

I was about to post it! :o

Oh my God...please go ahead FIA - Liberty Media...Imola then Zandvoort...that would be epic!!

1 month without action is too much! August is already awful for F1 fans...so that's a great idea since Imola itself has submitted to the FIA to be the replacement!

Wow already imagining how today's cars will look around Imola!! :D

All 10 teams have to accept of course! Ferrari...now is the time to use your veto powers and just make everyone go ahead with this! It's Italy we are talking about after all...

I think I'd rather see Turkey return. The quad apex left hander would be huge G's in these cars...
