Renault F1 R.S. 20 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Compared to 2019

Seems like the sidepods are a little slimmer, but they still have that wide af airbox. Can't make out too many details from those pictures though.
Id like a head on comparison to see the suspension mounting points. I think they've move up, slight change in the clamshell shape compared to last year - the rear looks neat- but again need to see more. And im guessing or i hope they've gone for a letterbox intake to match the top 3 - I read somewhere that Renault's PU uses a different cooling intercooler to the other engines - i.e air cooler rather than wet charge cool.. don't quote me on that..
The cooling layout, which puts the ERS and (engine oil?) rads above the engine, just behind the driver, unlike other teams, and the airbox/roll hoop should remain the same as 2019 and 2018.

They use one air-air intecooler in each sidepod. Only Merc (the factory team) and Ferrari use water-air AFAIK.

Maybe Renault have had their marketing budget slashed
Most teams expected to spend more this year 'before' the cap comes in.. on all sorts of things..
Marketing costs are not included in the budget cap

And i dont pretend to think Renault have anywhere near the marketing budget of some of the other teams, i don't think it costs a lot to produce some Promo's or videos much in the same way most teams do. I think its the result of a confused strategy rather than cost cutting- and the talent Cyril has for antagonising people :D

We are soooo nearly there... not quite Hi-res but still good. Interesting 'scoop' by the nose, Airbox inlet is very conventional compared to customer team- bargeboard area looks very cluttered, high suspension mounts, would like a closer look at the front upper wishbone mount and the rear a bit more..

The whishbones are mounted higher than 2019 indeed. Especially the lower ones.

Yes it looks like Renault's has been the same a few years now- whereas Mclaren's this year is a bit braver

Brilliant, and some annoyingly placed watermarks on the photo.. right over the rear Diff and front suspension.. clearly deliberate..

Is it just me or do the suspension arms look quite thin?

-Slim nose
-Cape
-High mounted front suspension
-Matte color

But why so much secrecy?? Nothing that innovative on it for the others to copy i think...
