Heat must be come from somewhere and they will use it only for gaining enough heat on the tyres, may be just for one straith. Although I don’t think heat is the main issue it HAS to reduce/increase scrubbing if it’s changing the toe of the wheels. It could also be a way of removing heat too. It depends on which side of the coin you’re looking at. I’m not certain tyre heat is the main reason for it though it could be loads of things. That is true, but I still think its reducing scrub, for lower resistance, and as some say maybe even work in conjunction with POU to change ride height. So the rules say fixed steering wheel but don't mention what fixed means. I think the spirit of the rules is the wheel should be only rotated and translation shouldn't be in its degrees of freedom.10.2 Suspension geometry :
10.2.1 With the steering wheel fixed, the position of each wheel centre and the orientation of its
rotation axis must be completely and uniquely defined by a function of its principally
vertical suspension travel, save only for the effects of reasonable compliance which does
not intentionally provide further degrees of freedom.

Furthermore if they deem this legal what's stopping the teams from implementing a system with more than 2 options? They could shift the wheel like a manual gearbox and have a different steering profile for each corner.
One is "auto" the other isn't. Maybe someone should explain that to Cyril?
