RP isn't a "B team" anymore. With Stroll Money and the coming Austin Martin backing...They'll be at or near max budget next year.They have a new wind tunnel on it's way and a bunch of new hires to and already established team.

Sorry, but if you're copying the design of another team from the previous year instead of developing your own ideas, then you are most definitely a B team, regardless of budget. Will be different next season though, they will have to step up.

I agree that is "B team"-ish.

If that new RP anywhere near last years Merc, it will be hard to catch.

It does look like it could be a thorn in McLaren's season, have to agree!

Seeing Perez on the C2 and his lap times on a long run. They are seriously quick and consistent.
Bottas is on the same tire as Norris was for his long run and is on average 0.8-1.0s a lap quicker.

Mercedes works deal? Where does this BS come from. Mercedes have signed multiple multi-year deals in the last few weeks, they aren't going anywhere. There is no works deal on the table, not for Racing Point and not for McLaren.

People also shouldn't read too much into the times. Sainz already said that their current car is basic at the moment. They seem to have taken the same approach as last year.

we dont know as always the fuel load and engine mapps and of course the drivers and how they are instructed by teams so we can't say who's fastest now apart Mercedes for me

Carlos was about to say that Red Bull was out of reach when Carlos Sr interrupted them and asked what was going on... Carlos Jr's answer was something like "lying to the camera as usual". Wonder if their internal goal is to consistently fight RBR and they are sandbagging talking about defending 4th.

That last sector the MCL35 front end just looks stiff and bouncy whereas the others look way more compliant. I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed but it looks like the other teams have made giant steps

Yesterday Siedl mentioned big upgrades for next week. Carlos hinted front end improvements. So let's give them some time. They do seem to have a very solid testing programme.

Yes this is a very basic car all they ar doing now is setup runs the next test will be the real test

Th whole last year Mercs looked stiff and bouncy on the kerbs, while Ferrari looked like an unshakeable limo. Didn’t stop them from being the quickest car out there. I think there’s a lot more to being quicker than having a compliant ride, though it does play a role.
