from onboard looks like the gear ratio is far away from optimal to this track .........
You only have two gear ratios for the whole season, so it's not going to get any better.

RIC And Renault actually look really good in S3 on hards. They’ll be tough to beat this year. Our close rivals I reckon

Starting to worry a little. Shouldn't we start cranking up the car a bit to see where it stands or is that what it can do?

I’m quietly confident if we can make a bit of a step in our slow speed performance. The race sims look very decent

McLaren is not worrying. Relax guys. They are running without major issues and completing their full test programme. This is great news. From comments from Lando, they are there or thereabouts compared to Renault and the rest of the midfield, I feel he was saying that we look a bit faster but it could be interpreted other way around as well.

I assume they will do qualy sims at some point of time this week. But if they need evaluating new parts, then stopping midway to run the car on full steam on C5 softs is pointless. I understand they have a new front wing and diffuser right now now. They may even bolt on stuff like turning vanes and barge board bits as testing progresses. Let them finish all that and then we can see how they perform. Let them evaluate all the new parts and get all the data they need to develop the car. After that, if they have the time, I won't mind seeing glory runs. Even then, they might indulge in sandbagging. We may not know the real position in the grid till Melbourne. Let's wait and see :D

There have been updates. New front wing last week. New diffuser today.

It just seems the way that the top chassis on the grid are just way ahead in the mechanical and kinematics department. May well be a function of team size.

HAM 1.17.5 on hards. Wow

I want to see progress this year.I want to see the team clear the midfield and halve the distance to Mercedes.

it looks like we need something new for slow corners... i think we are in a big big fight for 4 this season...
the car is not were they were wishing to be, thats for sure, but its not bad.
Maybe a few updates to solve the slow corners and we will be good. seems to be the issue in the last years.. Mechanical grip, i dont think its aero to be fair.
