Good conversation going on today with Jolyon Palmer, Will Buxton, and the short little guy who's name I don't know (not Crofty).

They were calmly discussing the Ferrari issue for quite a while. Their conclusions were that either they are doing something that doesn't make any sense whatsoever as a testing strategy, OR the car just isn't very fast.
The Williams on C4s was only less than 5 tenths slower than the SF1000 on C5s today. You're absolutely right, the car has a mega problem and isn't fast enough. It will fight with the Williams for the last places. Considering the Williams did the fastest lap on a slower tyre, I would even say that it's the SF1000 being the slowest car on the grid.

Testing is testing..and of late, testing is also poker. If one had bet on testing results from last year, you would be looking for a shirt. From reading the poker faces this year, I would assume:

1. DAS is a big deal
2. Ferrari and RB are slower than Merc.
3. Midfield about the same.
4. William's slowest.

What happened to Bottas before lunch did he also have an engine issue? He stopped running around 40 min before lunch if I recall correctly them Hamilton didn't go out until more than an hour after lunch?

Last year through testing I thought Mercedes would be playing catch up to Ferrari.
I'm not going to make any assumptions until the end of Q3 in Australia in a couple of weeks.

Looks like Merc are miles ahead but will need to run their engine really conservatively for first part of season. They had to do the same last season. I remember reading they were not expecting a good start to the season as they had to repackage car for PU and run it in lower modes

Racing Point and Mercedes Lapped in the C3 tire compound with solid times the other teams were on the C5's. I would be impressed except when i remember its just testing then it doesnt matter because Ferrari and Redbull could both be way faster then are showing. cant wait for Melbourne.

That looked as easy as a drive to the shops to pick up the Sunday paper. There's a lot of time left in that car.

Vettel and Binotto saying they have a ‘drag problem’ hence the low top speeds - but Vettel also said:

"We also turned up the power every now and then. But in laps where nobody was looking."

So he Acknowledges it was done in a way to disguise their top speed...

Really? It's understeering and missing apexes by 2 feet. Doesn't change direction with anything close to the speed and immediacy of, particularly, the Red Bull.

Of course they will dial up more raw BHP in qualifying, but so will everyone else.

Hello everyone,
We would be fooling ourselves if we have a doubt about Ferrari being that slow!!
This is testing, and this year they're trying to understand their car setup and so on.
They aren't going for fast laps, simple as it is.
The PU won't be turned up until Melbourne.
So let's wait and see before criticizing Ferrari.
