Overreact? He is completely right. The peak of COVID-19 in central europe is expected for june-august according to Christian Drosten (He is the guy that developed the SARS-CoV-2 test). Google him if you think he is not the right guy to make such predictions. Starting the season in may will not change anything.

The real mistake already happened. Canceling now won't change much if at all. People have already met, worked together and so on.
No offense but the test is kind of useless, it takes days for results to come back. I know from personal direct experience.
Depends on who you are. The President of Portugal had to make the test and he had the result on the same day.
We have a 'drive in' near me, a portocabin just off the motorway. You have to phone for an appointment, but if early enough the resits come the same day

Edited to add the photo. I did not take the pic, I am in the very high risk group and wil stay well away

Sorry, but this is plain wrong. The test itself takes only several hours. The fact that yours took days is simply due to currently congested laboratories.
Then for the average Joe like myself what is the point? The test doesn't stop you from getting sick. And once you are sick you can't do anything but quarantine yourself with the hope you don't pass it on while managing your symptoms. At the end of the day I'm still here and it took the better part of two weeks to get over it.

How many people are going to ignore the quarantine? How many people will keep going to work regardless while waiting for their test results? What about the asymptomatic people who show no outward signs but still spread the virus? Infection rates are realistically much higher than is being reported. In a way this good news because it lowers the mortality rate of the disease.

I'm not trying to downplay it, I don't wish anyone go through what I went through, but at the end of the day I'm still here and I feel fine now.

At the moment there is talk between Team principals to cancel AUS GP, also Bahrain, and Vietnam GP. Start to 2020 season could be at Zandvoort in May. I would say that based on all actions in severa countries and critical conditions in Italy, it is the only right thing to do.

First of all, all I did is correct your wrong statement. The test is there to give people certainty, so that they can take precautious measures to not spread the virus around even more! Especially with regard to risk groups and older people.

For sure there will be stupid people that ignore quarantine or whatever, but this does not make the test useless in the first place, because gladly there are not only stupid people living on this planet.

Looks like GP will go ahead. What a weird decision. No word yet if it will be an official F1 World Championship event.

Can Mclaren take their decision back though and race on Sunday?? After all just one person of their team being in quarantine shouldn't be a problem...or should it?? Problem of course will arise if more personnel from the team come back positive!

1 positive case + 12 personnel who had contact to that person are in self-quarantine.

Why not test if they are positive or not then? They are positive for sure?

The BBC is now reporting the race is called off. Can F1 just come with a statement? This is crazy.

Looks like the FIA are going to do as Brawn previously suggested. A shortened season is looking ever more likely.
