What a goat rodeo. The governing body of the most advanced sport in the world unable to read a --- graph, one whose slope has been clear for a couple of days.

If all they care about is cover-your-ass then the WHO pandemic declaration gave them their defensible out. But they waited until a team forced their hand.

Congratulations FIA you collect all three podium trophies;

1) incompetent (couln't build a decent model or find an epidemiologist to tell you what would change in 4 days)
2) weak - McLaren comes out looking like the leader
3) bad at marketing and PR

I swear to god, they are all morons. The local government officials, the organizers, the fia, all of them. If you wanted to protect people and set a good example you would have canceled the race weeks ago. Instead you let them all pack into commercial flights, and then let them mingal with the local population for a few days now.

I think McLaren doing it wrong. They are already in australia, the team already worked in the garage and all relation made by now with other people is not reversable. They just need to be sure other team members. If that takes 2 days to get result of.inpection they can at least start race. Maybe Qualifications at sunday.
What is the result of frightenig people so much. More vaccine? I think this is collapse of all claims about vaccine's protection
..or compliment Zak Brown willing to take a firm and precautionary decision.
Well being of his team now is one thing.....
Keeping his team healthy for the next races would also be on his mind.
Cannot blame him to stay on the safe side to also try and secure future races.

So no matter what decision and our opinion, it's great he makes and communicates a clear decision.

FIA might learn something from Zak
Their one stuff already ill and possibly he affected others. If he got virus in Melbourne that is worse while they went somewhere where is virus more common and don't take care. Teams must decide cancel it before going Melbourne. After that seemingly brave decision to go there and than return from earlier decision, it is not a clever thing

The thing is that so many people are already in Australia and many of them came through a flight! So even if the race went ahead not much would have changed i think since whoever was going to be infected is already infected...these people will stay there at least until Sunday when their return flights are! If they wanted full protection they should have cancelled it in advance!

It was the wrong decision from Mclaren to announce their withdrawal...it started a domino effect let's say and then no one wanted to race from the other teams as it seemed unfair! I think that's the reason that the other teams didn't want to race and no because of the threat itself!

A race behind closed doors would have been a sensible idea...but leaving it late to take big decisions always leads to silly decisions!

Anyway...i don't expect either Bahrain or Vietname to go ahead, so see you again in May! :P

The teams will probably turn their attention to their 2021 cars.

Any races run this year will just be token and I can't really see any racing happening before June/July/August earliest, since it's going to take it's sweet time to work its way through the population, and travel is going to be restricted -- I can't imagine many countries having any appetite for public events until the worst of it is very much over.

It's all second-hand reports at the moment. Typical F1, though, to let something leak and then sit in silence whilst their audience wonders what the heck is going on.

It seems that FIA has just made a secret settlement with COVID19.

go ahead, take a few risks, go find your local Corona infected, stick your tounge in his/hers mouth, armpits,
let them spit in your mouth, then kiss your loved ones, go to your elderly parents or grandparents, and visit your friends pregnant wife.

you've got to be kidding me.

This is the dirtiest and most ignorant post I've read in this forum until now. Every sentence of it. You should be ashamed.
