Swine flu which in 2009 the WHO declared it to be the first influenza pandemic of the 21st century had caused panic. But social media is now causing a panic pandemic. In hindsight, HINI virus was not as deadly as anticipated but people still panicked, but not as much as we are currently panic pandemic due to the distribution of fake news and misinformation. Be aware of what is being published online and follow the guidelines of the respective health authorities.

Did swine flu crush any hospitals/ICU departments or kill healthy medical workers in ‘09? I just remember my country bought 1bn euro worth of vaccin, which were thrown away, unused.

The collapse of the hospital in China wasn't the fault of COVID-19.

Are you being sarcastic?

Then let's forget China. What's the fault of Italy's hospital collapse?

Seriously, how does a virus make a hospital fall down?

Or do you mean that the health system is close to collapse?

The UK Govt's approach is to try to avoid overloading the health system - that's why they're doing it differently to Italy etc.

Italy is also trying to prevent overload -- this is what the quarantine is for. It's just that they're late.

Italy and the UK have different social structures. Italy is closer, families are a big thing, people live with their older relatives etc. The UK is inherently more self-isolating because we don't do the big family thing to same extent at all. That might actually help us in this situation.

Everyone Is late, the virus was deadly silent for a month.

The Surprise Is that Who can do things sooner thanks to seeing other countries hit before, china doesnt make a case here cause likes sars, being so far nobody could predict the contagion coming here so fast, Is doing nothing

You can not quarantine every one, especially those who are most likely to pas it on, those being health and support workers without which the country stops and many more die.

There is 'a plan' to self quarantine people aged over 70, which sounds sensible, but what are they going to eat, and where is it going to come from?

160,597 casualties and 1,784 reported road deaths in UK last year, but everyone is OK about not banning cars. (Yes, it is a stupid comparison, but setting the scale)
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

Right, UK say simple "You can die in your home because we will overwhelm the hospitals."

I don't know where this goes really but i don't like it and i wish to all here that are from UK to be safe.

You don't seem to understand what quaranteen Is. Also in Italy essential services and food shops work. Just restaurants and bara and cinemas and non essential shops are closed. People cant go out unless for business and food shopping

In UK everything works. But people are free to go out and spread the virus. It s kind of silly

So people all go to work, or shop or school and within breathing distance of each other and still be in quarantine?
Not intending to be offensive, but I do not understand it

I don't understand how you still don't know how a virus makes a hospital fall down. Don't you follow any single news regarding Italy?
The virus spreads faster than Influenza, is deadlier than Influenza and makes more people be severely ill. To the point that they need intensive care. There are several hospitals in Italy now treating only Covid-19, but they still are absolutely overwhelmed by the number of cases.

Usually, in winter months about 85% of the ICU beds are occupied. Lombardy, under normal circumstances, has 720 ICU beds. Right now, 767 Covid-19 patients are being treated in ICUs in Lombardy alone. The italians managed to mobilize a few hundred more (500 is the last info I have) ICU beds, but you'll be able to do the math yourself and come to the conclusion that it's still nowhere near enough.
At this point, older patients are being left to die. Traumas, strokes and other emergencies don't even get a chance. There just is no capacity anymore and every day it gets worse.

What shocked me most in your post, though, was your last sentence. Because from what I and many others can see, the UK still don't do any single thing to slow the spread. They want herd immunity to solve the problem. Seems clever, but it absolutely isn't, if what they're trying is to avoid overloading the health system. It will do the total opposite. It's so easy to predict that. You just need to look at other pandemics in history or much simpler, just look at Italy at the moment. If they wanted to avoid overloading of the health system, they would take strict measurements. The virus will spread anyway, but this way you'll let the curve not spike like Mount Everest and instead stay relatively flat.
