Alonso quit F1 when he was still on top, still probably the best guy in race.

There is no reason for him to come back, except having an "offered" title ==> Meaning driving for Mercedes.
So unless Hamilton decides to quit Mercedes I don't see any reason for ALO to be in F1
Alonso left when he was on top? He was driving for a midfield team and hadn't won a race for 5 years (including his last year at Ferrari where he didn't win a race and only got two podiums all year). That's not "on top" by any meaning of the term.

I think what he was trying to say he was driving at his best when he quit, he was sublime.

You judge a driver compared to his teammate and what he is doing through the year

So yeah he was still on top.

Without a doubt, he massacred Vandoorne.

Though i firmly believe VanDoorne never was anywhere near anything impressive,
(don't believe he ever was Palmer levels of failure either),
let's concider that VanDoorne might have been on Leclerc and Verstappen levels.
Again, i don't believe he was, but lets imagine this.

It would then be all the more mind blowing how good Alonso must have been if that was
actually the case. And if that REALLY was the case, then F1 definately is missing out on
not having Alonso around.

But, i honestly don't think that is the case. I think VanDoorne was at best mediocre,
i think at his very best he'd be a belgian 'Kovalainen', which really isn't too good in the end,
but it isn't so bad either.

And though i have high respect for Alonso's speed and capabilities, I don't concider him
in any way a 'god' of sorts, and he has simply outdone his time in F1 i honestly believe.
time to move on.

I mean do we really want Alonso back? Then what about Barrichello and Massa? :?
Let the past be the past.

while also sending off 4 Hamilton players to make it more interesting"

I agree with that.

Other than that VAN was considered a Leclerc like with his pre-F1 level.
Certainly not a Kovalainen.

I think the guy is more like a Vettel, or a Bottas maybe (but I think Bottas is now better than Vettel).

So all those talks about ALO are ... because we all know he is a giant driver, and he manage to have only 2 titles.
We were kinda "rob" of the HAM / ALO fight. I think ALO was the guy that should have fight with HAM all those years because they were the two best on the grid

But yes. This is the past.
Now there is VES and LEC, HAM is also kinda the past, like was MSC in 2004 I mean, still on top, but absolutely not the futur.

Maybe Verstappen needs to help develop the car better. Hopefully it will be a skill he picks up as he matures. He's no longer a rookie that can be given the benefit of the doubt. I was shocked when I realized he's 102 F1 races into his career. :o

Is this a flaw, I highly doubt it but who knows hey? I have a suspicion Red Bull will start much better this season, that's if Mercedes wasn't coasting towards the last quarter last year.

Stoffel won the 2015 GP2 season with great panache, iirc. He finished the season with just about double the points of the 2nd placed guy who I forget rn.

He’s also leading the Formula E season standings rn I believe. And he was runner up in 2014 GP2, albeit to Jolly Palmer

Maybe Verstappen needs to help develop the car better. This is a joke, isn't it?

Hopefully it will be a skill he picks up as he matures. As he matures? Another joke I assume.

He's no longer a rookie that can be given the benefit of the doubt.

Mex Resorting to mind games. Little does he know that Lewis is the king of them. Ask Nico.

in some ways they're quite similar, i think. Max is where Lewis was at that age, being openly competitive and saying what comes into his head when a journo asks him a leading question. It doesn't always come out that attractive, by the time it's been given a good spin, but really it's just what they all think, inside. In 2010-13 Lewis was pretty open about wanting that Red Bull :)

And with Lewis, the reason his mind games are so effective is that everyone knows it's not made up it is simply what he's thinking, pure and beastly

I've seen a few places reported Eddie Jordan up to his usual wild predictions...

This time that Lewis and Seb will swap seats....

....despite Lewis being very clear that he's not looking to move teams!!

Eddie's logic? That every driver dreams of driving for Ferrari. Well, I wouldn't if I was an F1 driver 😂
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️
