except from such asymptomatics as later became symptomatic

so why was this a BBC 'news' item yesterday ?

do people think that so-called community transmission is from symptomatics ?

Shame that there won't be a race in Japan. It's a good track. No Singapore isn't too much of a loss, however.

Good God. 2 races at the dreaded A1 Ring, 2 at the ruined Hockenheimring, Barcelona seems like it's going to happen, and now they cancel 3 of the few events of the year that are interesting.

First Suzuka, one of the best 3 or 4 tracks they go to each year. Baku...actually quite an interesting street circuit with some atmosphere and its created some good races...and Singapore. One of the very few "new" races that isn't terrible.

It's hard to find much worth watching this year. The pair of races at Silverstone, if they happen, are going to be a real highlight. Sounds like Monza might actually happen too. What a mess this season is.

Now they are walking back the "there is very little chance of getting Covid19 from an asymptomatic person" .
Can't trust anything they say.
Yes they are a political group that is part of the U.N. so that to me calls their trust quotient into question from the get go. It also means they have plenty of money. They fly first class all over the world while staying at first class hotels.

They are a scientific group staffed by scientists.

Only arrogant people say something and stick to it regardless of whether there is any evidence to support it and even when evidence contradicts.

Scientists constantly review evidence and update their opinions based on the latest evidence and yes, sometimes this means that advice does change and contradicts earlier advice. Scientists aren't afraid to say that they were wrong when new evidence changes what they know.

Criticism related to what kind of hotel rooms and airline seats is moot. They have to attract these people away from very highly paid private sector jobs. That said, your average WHO scientists will not have these luxuries, only the people at the top. If you have factual evidence to contradict that then please feel free to share it.

It is important to remember that this virus has only been in the human population for 7 months. That we know as much as we do already is amazing.

Two races on the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve circuit in Portimao? I would welcome it.

[The Portuguese newspaper] A Bola reports that Formula 1 plans to host a double-header in Portugal later this year.
These would then take place on September 27 and October 4 in Portimao. The Portuguese newspaper also reports that the Formula 1 circus probably traveled to Mugello on September 13, after the Monza Grand Prix.
This would mean that the King's Class will linger in Europe a lot longer than originally intended.

R number was close to 1 before the lockdown in Germany. Openings do not play any role.
Even big demonstrations do not play any role..only party indoors is a problem.

Only the US and it's allies (that are tied so close as to be almost-States) have problem with the WHO.

For a country that has so much international influence, it's amazing how little the average USian knows about the world outside of the 50 states.

You're not going to get me into an argument about how he has been involved in a number of controversies before this. Like where denied a number of cholera epidemics while people died. But if you want to believe Dr. Tedros and the W.H.O. are made up of white knights go right ahead but I can read so don't expect me to sing that tune.
