Stroll appoints Mercedes chief as new Aston Martin CEO

Tobias Moers has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Aston Martin, the Britain-based manufacturer confirmed on Tuesday morning.

Moers has been the Chairman and CEO of Mercedes-AMG since 2013 and has spent over 25 years affiliated with parent company Daimler, which holds a five per cent stake in Aston Martin.

Moers has replaced Andy Palmer at the helm of Aston Martin and will take up his new position at the start of August.

Aston Martin will return to Formula 1 in 2021 through the Racing Point team, which is owned by the car maker’s Chief Executive Lawrence Stroll.

A little bit more Merc.Staff is crossing the English channel ,and not just Mercedes-Benz staff but from its elite AMG. Stroll is making massive moves to secure his long term goals are going to be met along with the short term. I wonder if he will make some more changes to the Force India side of things i hope not since all of the Force India staff is the reason for the success that small team has had. I really hope that he never takes away i hope he only adds. Im very happy for the that little team and its staff who have build such a strong system of work that can fight to its fullest for every possible point even in adversity'.

EDIT: They already added a bunch of other positions right? From Brackley does anyone know/remember how many they brought over from Mercedes F1?

Could this be a clever move by Wolff/Mercedes to be ready for the cost cap regs and be on par with Ferrari-Alfa and RedBull-Alpha Tauri to have a sister team to split some development and on track support to go above the 145mln a year?

Seems a bit complicated to me. If Mercedes wanted to do this why didn't they just buy the shares from Aston Martin directly and sell their stake in the F1 team to Stroll? Why do it in this roundabout way?

The only way Stroll Jnr will win the title is if Daddy buys the Mercedes team and then only runs a single car. And even then, he'd need Red Bull and Ferrari to consistently crash in to each other in turn 1...

Perez set's his car up for sunday's doesn't at all try to gear the car up for single lap speed's.

His Qualifying could improve if he did a more normal Saturday set up . But he goes right into Sunday and then Saturday is good but not great never what it could be. I'm sure that must drive the Engineers a little mad.

From what I've seen 2020 RP is on par with 2019 merc in high speed corners where their copy/paste aerodynimacs are clearly working well, but they fall very far behind on slower speed corners (manily the types of S3 in spain), since they don't know how merc's suspension actually works. I don't think they'll be able to match 1.3.26 from last year.

who are we kidding guys... Chalenging Ferrari with a replica of a 2019 car with 4 times the smaller budget. i know that Ferrari has problems but RP was on their death bed only 2 seasons ago. They have made a lot of progres no doubt about that but changes like these take time to settle in..
