Indeed, 100kW power increase up to 350kW (469hp), no rear brakes, front regen, 600kW mid-race fast charging, 120kg lighter battery... Gen3 looks promising! =D>

600kw charge is impressive, current top end EVs like the Taycan goes up to 270kw I think.

I'm thinking they will incorporate supercapacitors or the Williams flywheel in their battery pack in order to achieve that and also lower the stress on the battery.

Lucas Di Grassi's idea is even cooler. 250kW front and rear motors and no mechanical brakes. Active aero.

Several years ago I said I can imagine a future with no brakes, only regen as brake discs are by definition a inmense waste of energy, but didn´t know that would be possible this soon :o =D>

If they have >500kW of resistance under regen they could get away with it. I might be inclined to put a failsafe mechanical brake inboard in case of failure. But brake failures happen in other motorsports.

I think no brakes will be too risky.

As a complete layman, I would think the best idea would be to use supercapacitors to charge the heavy front axle breaking energy and discharge it immediately in acceleration. If needed then charge the rest of the energy to the battery if necessary for braking capacity in some corners.

Brakes are only a way to reduce speed. I don´t think there have been any more failures of regeneration in FE than failures of brakes in F1

Actually I think F1 brakes fail significantly more often, but I could be mistaken

The current FE battery pack consists of different types of batteries, some used for higher energy density some for power density I can see them using a similar strategy in order to regen more and replacing some of the batteries with supercaps or the flywheel in order to increase power density while decreasing the mass the hoped for 120kg.

For purpose of regeneration, peak shaving or just efficiency it will indeed be a good solution. But it's probably got an energy capacity of just a kWh or so, maybe even less.
