Toyota TF109

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I like that Toyota front ring revision, they have done a couple of relitivly simple upgades, and have did away with those (nice looking i must admit) tyre cutter end plates.

Is that a small inlet below the "s" in panasonic on the front wing endplate?

Do the front wing flat motors get that hot?

I LOVED the Walrus nose, I've been waiting for it to make a return! The Toyota doesn't really have one, its more like that old Arrows Super Aguri ran...

Regards,
I expect it's more to do with air pressure and/or vortex generation.

I thought FOTA/FIA had agreed to ban shark fins this year?

I dont mind them but given the choice I prefer not having them.

No they didn't. It's too valuable advertising real estate.

What might the bulge at the base of the engine cover be for? The first thing to come to my mind would be that its KERS related (?).

I think he means the wings going vertically down from the tub. To quote scarbs earlier post:
The nose cone carries two vanes attached to its rear edge, these lead back under the tub and feature a serrated profile, certainly a lot neater than the BMW interim cars vanes in this area.

Yeah, also if you look at this view, it creates a sort of "valley", at the exhaust tip. Weather it lead to a high or a low pressure zone is beyond my understanding, but the profane I am would have though that for optimal exhaust gazes extraction one would search for fast airstream rather than any sort of stagnation...

Maybe one of the technical head here can explain the principle?

I think the black area will be extended further down the car so it doesn't damage the paint
