2009 January Winter Testing

Post

Discussion about December (or at least this weeks) testing at any circuit may it be Algarve, Mugello, or Valencia, may be done so here. This in order to reduce the quantity of threads otherwise produced by having one for each circuit.

Well it seems that Toyota started running at Algarve on Sunday, which is surprising since there has been no mentioning of it as far as I'm aware of. It's possible that they acquired exclusive use of the Portuguese cirtuit for today, as Mclaren did on Saturday. Kamui Kobayashi was at the wheel of the TF109.

As for Ferrari changing their test from Algarve to Mugello, it may not turn out to be as wise as they thought it would be. Since weather at the Tuscan circuit isn't ideal, with colder temperatures and fog looming around the region, and rain predicted in the forecast.

Official testing for 2009 starts on Monday, 19 January. On Monday Williams and Renault are scheduled to launch their new cars at the Algarve circuit. And BMW is expected to do the same the following day but in Valencia.

I would suggest it is just some sort of Aero Benchmarking test as they know how much Downforce the old one generates and they are prolly comparing against the new for setup purposes?

I think they used similar last year on the MP4/23 in testing.

Are those infrared sensors (on the floor pan) pointing to the rear wheel to measure tyre temp?

Duch site provides regular updates, go to:

And then open a babel fish or google translator to translate in english

Green flag again btw, but no news or pics of the FW31 and Hunkelberg yet. Hope nothing too bad in both cases. [-o<

Are the front brake intakes completely blocked off or is it just me?

If you push up the light of your computer screen you'll notice the lower part is hollow. The hole has the shape of a sidepod hole that would have been inverted (from right to left).

As usual Williams is using a very dark livery + raw carbon elements so it is very difficult to spot something on the car...
