Reanult seem surprisingly happy to burn through a set of Hards.

Are they picturing Medium - Medium - Hard, perhaps?

It seems bold.
Grosjean did more than 2/3 of the race on mediums (now hards) last week, so it's not completely unimaginable. Sounds like a risky approach though, with the higher temperatures now.
It also leaves very little room for error in Qualy. Are some drivers going to even bother running tomorrow’s FP3 apart from an install lap?
they need to return two sets of tires anyway after it, so I guess we will see the (more or less) usual runs on Softs

I’ve said I’ll happily admit my mistake. I will if it comes to it.

A question from a novice fan: what mechanism determines when the rear wing is deployed (opened/closed)? Is it a driver initiated process by flipping a switch in the cockpit, or perhaps it’s an automated process depending on speed, or perhaps gear selection? Thanks for any replies.

Enjoy the weekend, Gents.

Fully driver controlled by a button on the steering wheel. During the race they must be within 1 sec of the car ahead at the drs detection line for them to use it. I think they can still use it during the race even if they aren't close enough, I don't think there is an automatic lock out function in the car, but they can be penalized for doing so, but many have gotten away with it. I've also seen many drivers not use it even when it was available, so it is not automatically deployed. I believe most drivers get an audible signal in their ear buds to remind them when it is available.

It’s the driver. Generally they hear a beep in their ears which tells them it’s active to use and it’s a button press. It automatically closes either on down shift, application of brakes or at zone end IIRC

In a race there is an automatic lock, remember few years ago when Alonso's (Ferrari 2013 or 2012) DRS automatic lock was not working and he accidentally activated it before the pit entry....And Last year they automatically disabled the DRS entirely in Abudabhi 2019 due to software issues and no one could activate it...Same is done in the first 2 laps of race start or after SC or VSC, they disable automatically on all cars.
Please remind me when had someone done it and got away with an advantage? I have only seen one or two accidental activation in race since its inception; that too due to FIA software glitch not the driver's fault...they get the beep and they press the button.

Any additional tables with the race paces comparison? Except the table from @ToniSokolov

Yes, I believe if you go below 95% throttle it automatically closes.
