Surprised to see hard tyre running, I thought they'd be saving those for Sunday. Or is it going to be a one stopper with medium then hard in the race (except Max who will possibly go the opposite to try something different).
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

I'd be surprised if Redbull risked that considering how notoriously difficult overtaking can be at this circuit. It'd be even be more surprising if he could make it into Q3 on the C1s.

Looks like it could be BAU this race given how practice went.

Zac Brown has been absolutely wrecking Otmar in the team principal presser. I think he’s my new hero :D

He is sharp, and a quality leader imo.

I wasn't much on him initially, but Mclaren does seem to have turned around and they are improving.

Last year was 2-stopper for all top teams. This is shaping up to be a M/H/M race for VER/Mercedes.

Him and Seidl seem to be a good leadership team. Great news really. We need a strong McLaren!
Ideally I'd have liked it if Ron had never had to leave. He was great. It all started going downhill when Whitmarsh came in and was immediately out of his depth.

Hamilton had some blistering early on in his soft stint, but it seemed to go away and was only on the very inside of the tyre.

Still this would prevent from tricks like increased fuel flow or ignition timing tricks.
Why do you keep calling it tricks, your average road card does this now. I haven't had the mess with a timing gun in like 25 years!

Ah, that makes sense, thanks.

Exactly. The modern engine map has fuelling and ignition timing and, along with knock sensors, allows the engine to ensure it doesn't detonate.

One wonders if the FIA's idea also prevents the engine from self-monitoring and turning down the settings to protect itself. If so, the teams could set a map that was maximum for a handful of laps before the engine "protects" itself with a less extreme map for the race. I can see that sort of thing being attempted.

Yes.
Every weekend has a minimum tyre pressure.

This weekend the pressures are low twenties (cant remember the figures). Mercedes should be OK.
Cant say if RedBull will be faster over a stint at this point though.
