With so few corners, probably the lack of tow has a bigger effect on lap times than more rubber in the track... Not only that, the amount of additional rubber wouldn’t have been that high either with 20 more minutes in the session

Agreed I think yes it’s slightly skewed sequence wise but it was a solid lap considering he didn’t have a tow and as we know the effect at this circuit is huge

but but was his PU massively turned down because of all his engine problems during the session? i mean who knows but P3 and P7 without tows is a pretty good result

They are never turned up for free practice.

Thanks... That’s what I read also, definitely the additional rubber wouldn’t account for 0.7 seconds of lap time.

In any case, Qualy will be in a few hours... Hoping that the team has a good session and that not only reaches Q3, but hopefully strong starting positions on the grid.

Mclaren never show their hand on Fridays so it was encouraging to see their pace despite that. More than the lap time what is heartening is to see is that finally Mclaren have a proper low downforce package which is actually quite effective.

Mclaren keeps being competitive also today with Norris being 3 tenths on the second place from Bottas in front of the Renault of Ricciardo and the Racing Points. Also Ricciardo had a DNF just now in Practise 3. Engine I think or maybe Gearbox. Curious to see if they are gonna make it till Qualifications.

Great FP3 for our guys! P2 for Carlos and P3 for Lando

Great pace again. Noticed Carlos got a nice tow from a Ferrari down to parabolica there, but Lando was in clean air as far as I could see. Would love to some full on boards. Could be a really exciting weekend!

Apparently its an easy fix. Could be hydraulics again.
