What everyone else did has nothing to do with whether there was a light on at the pit entry or not. If there wasn't, a penalty isn't justified, end of story.

The light is at the outside of the parabolica. You wouldn't be able to brake or evade if the light would be at the inside because you would see it to late.

Aren't those SC lights ? How do you make the distinction ?

I'm sure they were amber SC lights?

All this from the muppets who decided to put on a SC because the stewards were too dense to push a car backwards 5 yards.

Anyone see what Max did to Perez ? was all off camera, but I have a feeling he pushed him right off on turn 2 exit.

Mistake from Mercedes but to be fair they had so little time to react when they deployed the SC with the lane closed, I think Lewis was at the final corner, this would've caught many out.

Everyone can do whatever they want with their cars, including setups as the par ferme rules no longer exits after the race start

McLaren are the main losers in this. They obeyed the rules, and stopped for tyres when the pit lane opened again, but now they are down in 7th and 8th. Lance Stroll is definitely the big winner, as is Pierre Gasly.
If Valtteri was having to run more slowly because of slipstream overheating, Lewis may have the same issue after his penalty.

Wow Mercedes dropped the ball big time with that. Now Stroll has a chance to win! Hopefully the McLarens get back up there, but Gasly is also in a prime spot. This race just got interesting!

The whole first safety car is a joke. Fake entertaiment and fake redestribution of drivers....

Excited to see how this turns out. Could still be a Mercedes victory, pink one that is!!! Though really stupid rule and harsh punishment considering it's a technicality. I don't understand why Magnusen wouldn't just drive into the pitlane!!! It's right there you donut!!!

Pro-Mercedes faction who are blaming FIA instead of the Mercedes team are far worse!

The error is 100% on Mercedes-Benz and Alfa Romeo, penalty for Hamilton and Gionazzi therefore deserved... Entering a closed pit lane is a BIG no-go.
