Maybe Suzuka has lost the lustre of being the best drivers track on the calendar now, this is going to be quick.

To add on, I think with the new engine mode TD, it's going to be extremely difficult to overtake for the remainder of the year (irrespective of the OT button). Qualifying is going to become more important than ever.

I think this is too close to what Toto wants us to believe, which makes me suspicious.

I'm looking forward to this one; Watching the current generation of F1 cars around this track will be amazing, considering the expected amount of corners that are going to be flat out. I could be very wrong with this next prediction, but I think we might get a few decent overtakes in this one; If you can stay close through Turn 12, with Turn 13 being flat even when in the dirty air and not loose too much time trailing in Turn 14, that massive long straight with DRS gives you a fairly strong chance of passing I'd imagine.

Expecting Mercedes to be right at home here; Their car combined with that long straight with the power they have... seems like a forgone conclusion. I expect Red Bull to reclaim their position as the 2nd best team (well, Max anyway!). As for 3rd, boy... tricky! I honestly reckon it'll be between McLaren, Renault, Racing Point in Ferrari (no particular order). I've put Ferrari there because naturally they've got some knowledge of this track from the past and earlier in the year, and whilst their power unit will be hating life on the straight, they should be strong in the corners... they also don't seem too bad on the tyres which will be crucial pretty much from Turn 1 onwards until the end of the lap so they might have a better 1000th Grand Prix than we're all expecting... at least I hope so!

They should have DRS from 12 till the final corner too (in addition to the start/finish).

Left-right flip flop (13) looks easily flat, and I suspect it'd still be that way even with DRS wide open.

Someone went back and counted the number of overtakes after the restart (particularly with the cars at the front of the action), and let’s just say there wasn’t much counting to do.

Granted, it could be Monza-related, but every team has had tools taken away from it.

Indeed. It is reminding of 2009 to 2013 F1 race. You cannot overtake on track even if you have good race pace.

if F1 keeps Engine mode ban till 2025 then it is all over. Mercedes 1 and 2 all the time like RB in 2010 to 2013.

As you said,reverse grid does not make any sense.

So how was that different from 2019? We had also no overtaking in 2019. If you remember there were two Mercs chasing one Ferrari that was easily 0.5 to 1sec slower per lap...
Despite of some failed strategies with tires giving up there was also nothing in the midfield.

Same will happen this weekend in Mugello and people will even stronger complain about engine modes...thank god that there is not Monaco coming, because then we would have three races of complaints.

Maybe but at least the cars should look good over the crests and in the fast sweeping corners, then there’s some old school driving challenge. It’ll make a change from long straight, brake, hairpin, long straight, brake, hairpin rpt... rpt...

Tyre management should be difficult and the high temps will make for a technically demanding race for the engineers. Physically the long corners and high temps will add another dimension. I can’t see the race going by without a couple of safety cars, if you go off you’re staying off.

There’s room for different types of circuit on the calendar, do we really want to race at Bahrain every other week? I’m looking forward to it.

This track has no slow corners at all!

Turn 5 to turn 10 is flat out...then it has this huge front straight and only fast corners! How are they gonna make it on fuel??

Expect a lot of fuel saving...
