Getting at least 1 of the cars into Q3 will be a good result everything considered, although with the teams so close to each other, the drivers will be the biggest differentiators.

Thanks for the insight!

This year Mclaren seems to be like Williams BMW. They were very fast in Speed Circuits but seem to struggle on Aerodynamic Circuits. I am curious to see if the aerodynamic team will find some solutions to this if we are to challenge for the World Championship in the following years.

It’s interesting that we are half a second from the Mercs and Ver in Sector 1 alone... In regards to Renault and RP (and even Ferrari) most of the time lost is in the last sector (3 tenth down to Renault).

We are on pace in S2

Still though if they don't find 3 more tenths in Q2 I don't think they will go through Q2.

Why though to protect the front tyres? What is their strategy for tomorrow?
Commentators were saying yesterday that the worst degradation will be on the front tyres. If McLaren can protect their fronts while other teams chew up theirs, it will obviously benefit them in the race.

I'd take a tactical 11th, the tyres are going to play a big part, so starting on Mediums tomorrow might not be a bad thing, as long as you can get a good start.

Lando in a good position to start 11th on mediums and potentially jump a few guys ahead of him. Hopefully its McLarens turn to benefit from some good luck during the race.

Norris has lost his record being in every Q3 so far. Sainz was the one to eliminate him. So tactics for Norris and I wish the best for Sainz in that Q3. Let's see if they can find something magical in Q3.

On another note we will probably be playing defence in this race in terms of our 3rd position defence. We are 15 Points from Racing Point, 26 from Renault and 36 from Ferrari.

And that’s exactly what happened... If we were going to miss Q3, doing is a P11 was the way to do it! Táctica advantage for Lando with tire choice for tomorrow’s race and the possibility of going longer in the first stint and if they will be kinder to their tires than the rest, it can only be better.

There's nothing magical to find. That's the pace. They've hedged their bets on tyre wear tommorow.

The new aero on the RP looks like a handy step forward, will be hard to break into the top 6 when they have that on both cars imo - hopefully McLaren can get the new nose and associated package on the car soon to claw some time back.

Lost out for once in the tight upper-midfield today but most disappointed by the time gap to Renault... though the way RIC is hurling that around bodes well for his switch next year.

Fingers crossed for some good race pace tomorrow, hopefully it's better than quali pace and both cars can grab a few points

Still a bit worrying to be that far behind? Why is all of a sudden Renault so fast? Do we know what about the race pace for tomorow

It's not a bad position at all really. If need be, and the strategy in the race demands it, there could be the option of keeping one car out very long to allow the other to make a grab for some cheeky points. I'm not unhappy at all with the split strategy of the drivers, it gives us some nice tactical options.

Let's see how the cars perform in the race tomorrow.

Do we expect a new nose and another full upgrade package? Also out of curiosity. What happened with the whole debate between the other teams and RP? Did they all withdrawn their appeals. What is the FIA decided regarding next year and car copying?

With how close are things at the midfield, I hope Renault can keep at the lead of the pack in this race... At this point is better than RP who will be more consistently near the top of the midfield.

Let’s see if Carlos can pull some magic in Q3
