They tried the new nose yesterday... Not sure if it will be used this year os it is part of the package for next year... Read somewhere that the team has until the end of September to homologate some parts for 2021, so it might very well be part of the 2021 package.

Still a bit worrying to be that far behind? Why is all of a sudden Renault so fast? Do we know what about the race pace for tomorow
The minimum tyre pressures here are very high and it's hurt both the Mercs and Mclarens every time they've been set high before.

Ahh, robbed of a proper lap. P9 sounds about right through.

Not a bad result out of qualifying... We seemed poised to finish 10th, starting 9th and Leclerc in front of the RP’s is great, since it’s better for us for Ferrari to out score RP / Renault when we might struggle a bit.

Indeed but there is a good out of all of that. We are in front of one Renault and saved the second run. It's a shame though that the car couldn't go more than that. Let's see if setting up for front tyres will give us places tomorrow.

Yeah, P9-P10 is about what we deserve. I hope that the race pans out the way we want with our hope that our tyre life is enough of an advantage to sacrifice track position. Given how close cars will get to the gravel tomorrow, I'm expecting a SCs or VSC at some point, playing the two tyre strategies might play into our hand.

As long as it proves to be a step forward, it will be used this year, hopefully before the end of the European tour, according to Seidl.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Yes 9th and 11th is great. Lando should start on Hards and look to go long. P6/7 finishes possible in what will be a tough race for drivers and tires

It should be an interesting race... If the Softs degrade too fast tomorrow, Lando is in a good position.

I just hope we have a clean getaway and hopefully Carlos has another great start!

The thing is... Does the nose works by itself? Or does it need for example a different wing or changes in the bargeboards to maximize it’s potential.

I hope they do use it and that it brings a good chunk of performance.

Hards on the start? Would be interesting... Is it too much of a handicap at the start though? It is expected that overtakes will be hard tomorrow, losing positions in the start may not be worth the gamble?

Yep, the interview went as follows:

"We simply want to gather some data because we found a good direction there in the wind tunnel," he said "It's something we want to confirm on track first, before we then make decisions on if that's something we want to bring to the track later in the year."

"It's not at the state yet to race it," he said. "It's really an experimental test today to get some data for comparison with what we have seen in the wind tunnel before then making our final decision.

"I would expect if it's positive that we can hopefully bring it in the next two or three races to the track. Hopefully it's a clear enough gain to make it a new standard."

I like Seidl, he tends to be conservative in his predictions so if he states there will be an improvment, I tend to believe him.

Because of the carry over I can't see any sense in holding back aero parts , but with quite a significant change in the nose shape, I've got to think there will be refinements to be made and it must affect flow to other surfaces downstream that will need to be tweaked to match.

I don't think they will sudddenly be matching Red Bull or anything like that, but hopefully it's a step forward and a new direction with potential for further improvement longer term.

Fair point but I was thinking the McLarens usually make very fast starts and then it's tough to pass and everyone will settle in to save tires after 1-2 laps so not much to lose

Do the guys starting on softs have a chance to make a 1 stopper, or does starting on softs mean you'll likely need to stop twice?

I'd start him on Medium I think and see how the race goes. Gives us a chance for a better start and the option for a more flexible strategy in the race.
