Great start to the season for Callum Ilott, Zhou was unlucky with some kind of gearbox issue. Mick Schumacher threw away a 2nd place and ended up 11th.

Ferrari has no less than 5 drivers in its F2 Academy program. Three of them are very impressive. Russian Robert Schwarzman, Englishman Callum Illott & German Mick Schumacher. These are sure to be in F1 shortly.

Schumacher’s looked really strong these last two weekends - the fire extinguisher going off in Styria probably cost him a podium (at worst) - and without that he’d be right in there.

Seems like each formula he goes into he comes good the second year!

He always has good starts, shame Ilott stalled in the pits, he did all the hard work in breaking the DRS to Schumacher in the first stint. Cost him loads of points this season, stalled from pole at Silverstone in the feature race, now stalled while leading in another feature race. Could and should have been 50 points, but only had 10pts to show for it. The Silverstone race he started from the pitlane and still finished 5th!

Still, only 11pts separate the top 4 drivers, 9 races to go and 3 races are in the next 8 days!

After a botched Quali yesterday, Schumacher drove a great race today from 15th to 5th. He took the championship lead already today and is set to increase his advantage tomorrow as Ilott starts P12 and Shwartzman at the back.
Might this end like his F3 winning season?

Don't think he did much to deserve a championship lead. ilott was battling for a podium until the race director threw the safety car for a car they spend laps behind the VSC trying to recover. Schumacher was lucky he gained big time and was on the alternate strategy. Very lucky to score points, let alone gain on ilott.

He's really harmonizing with his car and tyres in recent races. Podium tomorrow should be on the table as well.
