Honestly, how does it Hurt Honda to let the team give them whatever Money they would be paying McMerc To supply the engines that are already sitting around... same for the gearboxes & KERS.... plus the Bonus of having the Honda name still on the side of the car.

... well maybe not the KERS cuz that still needs some development money.

Honda's actions in this whole situation have been all FUBAR.

I seen an excellent suggestion elsewhere...

Why not give the old engines to Mugen? :?:

To me Honda should have kept their drive chain/KERS develompent in F1 and supplied the new team with a complete drive chain and fully developed KERS system. And thus keeping the Honda name on the side of the car and a presence in there. I feel that would have been more enticing for new potential investors.

Yes it would have been at a "Small" cost for Honda, but im shure that for arround £20 Million they could have afforded that.

But the thing is that the Honda engine was reputed to be "worse" than the Renault one, but the RA107/RA108 were the worst car for that as well. So id say put what could be a half way decent engine in what is rumored to be a great car, im shure it would be a decent combination. I did read somewhere that Pre Honda pull-out, Honda had the most advanced KERS system also, but this will probably be needing some investment now as well, as most other teams have advanced quite a bit on KERS now.

That would have made sence to me.

Did April Fool's day come early this year? Seriously, Honda sponsoring a team to use Mercedes engines? If anything, they would agree to supply ONLY the engines.. Let's wait and see.

Honda, just as Renault, was given special dispensation to upgrade their homologated engine by the FIA, That fact, with the lower 18K rpm limit would have negated almost all difference between their engine and the top ones on the grid.

If they are spending money wouldnt it better to get something out of it?

Well, the Honda engines could be bought or used re-badged. We've seen this happen when Renault left F1 after 97 and their V10 engine were re-bagded and used as Mecachrome, Supertec and Playlife.
To give more examples, we've seen Ferrari engines named Petronas and Acer. A Peugeot engine was once badged Asiatech by Arrows I think.

I am trying to visualize Ross Brawn in the pits, directing a riff-raff team, pulled together at the last minute by this and that.
Not vey successfully I might add.

Yes timbo, I'm getting increasingly aware of this, thinking about a proper recipe, flambee perhaps?

Words from Senna's management is that there is nothing signed yet. He and his sponsors are waiting to see if Fry and Brawn are to stay in charge. If that happens, then Senna's chances are high, but there is nothing confirmed yet.

Funny remark is that Barrichello once said that if he was to quit F1, he would spend his time practicing golf. He is playing at Pebble Beach right now.

Well, I really hope Senna gets his seat because at almost 26, he is starting to be old material for F1. At that age Alonso had already won two WDC and had 6 seasons under his belt. The fact that in 2008 we had the youngest winner, and youngest podium and a quite young roster in general (with Coulthard and Barrichello gone the age will drop even more) does not help. After this one I don't think he'll get many more chances.

F1-Live reports that Senna's sponsors (I assume that includes Petrobras) have injected enough cash into the "Honda" team to race at least the first four Grand Prix.

If theres enough money to get them started in the season, that will be great, the work on it from there.

Id say it would be a massivly good move to get Aguri Suzuki onboard, look at the work he did at SA.

I don't know, they only have money for the first four GP. Looks like history might repeat itself *ahem Super Aguri *ahem.
That car better be as good as Brawn says it is.
