Leclerc fastest behind Mercedes and within half a second of Bottas and behind them only Max faster than Vettel. What’s happening?

I think it goes without saying it's this Grand Prix's running gag and will be until after the post press conference is over.

It's this GPs joke....

Yeah I think it’s all just a bit of good natured fun- as long as Godlameroso isn’t offended by it of course.

And it definitely makes a refreshing change to some of the nasty arguments which kept cropping up earlier in the season.

Just my 2mm... I MEAN 2 cents.

No real surprise with Mercedes still controlling the front, but WHERE DID FERRARI PULL 3RD AND 5TH FROM? Maybe running higher engine modes ahead of qualifying OR they're able to warm-up the tyres faster... no way their upgrades have given them that much of an increase in performance.

I'm going to guess there'll be a LOT of setup changes to each of the cars heading into qualifying, since they only had an hour to basically run what they could from their FP1/FP2 programs. Regardless, will make Qualifying all the more interesting. Also great seeing the cars around this track... if only Friday had produced some meaningful running; They'd be going even faster than they are currently.

Final bit, hopefully nothing too serious is happening with Stroll... but equally, would love to see the Hulk back in the car again! Might not be all that meaningful, since he'll go into qualifying with absolutely no running, so won't be a fair comparison with him vs. Perez... I'd be walking up to Guenther Steiner whilst he is there about a race seat for 2021... along with Perez!

It's practice, wouldn't read too much into it. Ferrari isn't suddenly P3.

Fuel levels makes a big difference. Not to mention some teams have new parts and their evaluation program is different. The real show starts now.

And Verstappen (and Renault, McLaren) did the lap early in the session too, track was clearly faster at the end, while both Mercedes but Hamilton especially, had a few aborted attempts (though yes, not all thanks to Latifi, some were errors by himself, and Verstappen also couldn't improve near the end).
