They might want to do something about this, tho: [-X

Is that burned or running rich? Maybe they are mapping the engine, although I'm sure they'd have done that on a bench already.

That looks like burnt surface paint to me, nothing major but you'd think they would use more unpainted carbon in that area to hide it better?

djos wrote:Simple, they are doing engine reliability testing for ferrari - the engines have to do 3 weekends each now.
I can understand that indeed... But at this rate, they'll soon be out of testing mileage...
well TR wont get their STR4 until just before the last test so they are using the time to learn about the slicks and make sure the engines are going to last under the new rules.

Apparently they are running simulated '09 Downforce levels to make it realistic.

With two seconds of advantage over the closest rivals, I would not call it "realistic" :)

Could some spannish speaking member translate what is written about williams from the http://directo.thef1.es/tests/ page, as they are not recording any time today, despite running whith both drivers? :?

Thanks in advance.

(Babalfish & such won't help, because the text is written in flash or whatever, it isn't taken in account when I try to traduct the page  , and the traductions from babelfish are so cahotic that I don't understand them anyway -i.e: traductions from danish KERS-->CHERRY, etc. This morning according to the traduction of F1today's live page, "Nakajima was drunk behind the wheel") :wtf:

I'm not spanish but portuguese is quite similar... It says that the reason Williams drivers don't register any times is because they are entering the pit after every lap. Seems they are practising pit entrances.

On a side note:
Alonso hace un estratosférico 1:19:956!!! Lo ha vuelto a hacer!!! ¡1:19:846!
gotta love the spanish enthusiasm with Alonso...

Oh! Installation laps & pit training all day?! Strange but why not. (though I remember from the "The Factory" TV program that the team have a dedicated chassis for pit work simulation at Grove, so they don't need to loose official testing time with that...)

Thank you for the clue!

EDIT: ok, just as we are discussing the team is begining serious work, first recorded time of the day for Nico 1:21.368. One hour remaining...

DAMN!!!

I had that idea years ago - it would clear the front wing wake a lot improving efficiency - but I thought it was so obvious the teams would already be using it if it were legal.

3.11.2 With the exception of the air ducts described in Article 11.4, in side view, there must be no bodywork in the area formed by two vertical lines, one 325mm behind the front wheel centre line, one 450mm ahead of the front wheel centre line, one diagonal line intersecting the vertical lines at 100mm and 200mm above the reference plane respectively, and one horizontal line on the reference plane.

This would suggest they weren't legal - unless they are part of the air ducts?

As we have seen with the diffusers everyone interprets things differently

He seems to be starting with some fuel load. At the end of the day we'll see how they are. I hope they start to pull themselves up again.

This is blatantly false.
I am not amazed by F1 cars in Monaco. I want to see them driving in the A8 highway: Variable radius corners, negative banking, and extreme narrowings that Tilke has never dreamed off. Oh, yes, and "beautiful" weather tops it all.
