Yeah, wonder how Lewis feels about his comments now...
Agreed. Definitely think that last bit in bold is part of it, combined with the fact that people who really don't like Lewis are disappointed when Bottas can't beat him.Mogster wrote: ↑24 Oct 2020, 23:16Yes. People seem to have conveniently forgotten how highly regarded Bottas was 2014-2016. He beat Ricciardo when they met in junior single seaters. Bottas being useless is a convenient stick to beat Lewis with...zibby43 wrote: ↑24 Oct 2020, 22:18Some of the over-the-top Bottas hate is mystifying to me.Scorpaguy wrote: ↑24 Oct 2020, 21:30Bot has his issues, but he is no doubt a good qualifier. However, can he not comprehend simple math...opting for 1-timed lap of fuel so he can be optimal on weight rather than having optimal tire temps??? Somebody please tell him that if had opted for 2-timed laps of fuel, he would have been at optimal weight for the final run. Lewis had to be laughing that entire final lap.
He consistently makes it difficult for, and occasionally out-performs, the greatest qualifier in the history of Formula 1.
Only legitimate faults I can find for Bottas: 1) Occasionally, he has a qualifying session where he's about as far from Lewis as Albon is from Verstappen. 2) His tire management in the race (when not in clean air) is not as good/consistent as Lewis'.
I dunno, but the individual who he felt uncomfortable about no longer is a steward of the race. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I'm sure Lewis' comments and t-shirts also made others uncomfortable. They didn't have anything to do with F1 either.
...no hate here, just abject disappointment. The2 - laps call on the yellows was a no brainer. He was class of the field...could have vied for the win from pole. I think we all know his chances of passing Ham tomorrow, sans a poor start from Lewis.zibby43 wrote: ↑24 Oct 2020, 22:18Some of the over-the-top Bottas hate is mystifying to me.Scorpaguy wrote: ↑24 Oct 2020, 21:30Bot has his issues, but he is no doubt a good qualifier. Yes exactly. The nasty name/slur he aimed at Lance was pretty awful and his totally unrepentant nature afterward makes a mockery of ‘we race as one’. I’m surprised a lot more hasn’t been made of it actually.nevill3 wrote: ↑25 Oct 2020, 01:38I thought Lewis handled the situation really well, put in a difficult position by a question he was not expecting and had no knowledge of the background facts regarding the questionable comments attributed to Vitaly (and subsequently Vitaly has said he was misquoted or poorly translated and has stated he meant no offence to anybody)Lewis stated he was surprised that The FIA had hired someone who, if the comments were true, held such strong beliefs that are not aligned to the current "we race as one" philosophy.
I personally was more upset by the language used by Max after his practice session crash with Lance
I wouldn't call the performances of Leclerc, Russell and Verstappen "moments of brilliance". They constantly are on a high level and make their team mates look pretty bad. I know the gap is not only up to driving skills, but still.
I only heard the bleeped explatives, anything you can translate here?El Scorchio wrote: ↑25 Oct 2020, 02:00Yes exactly. Nothing worthy of the hyperbolic theatrics.TAG wrote: ↑25 Oct 2020, 02:41I only heard the bleeped explatives, anything you can translate here?El Scorchio wrote: ↑25 Oct 2020, 02:00Yes exactly. I don’t really want to write the actual word on here but there are two meanings for it in the given context. One of which is a derogatory name for someone with Down’s syndrome and the other is implying his eyesight is bad using a racial epithet.TAG wrote: ↑25 Oct 2020, 02:41I only heard the bleeped explatives, anything you can translate here?El Scorchio wrote: ↑25 Oct 2020, 02:00Yes exactly. Apparently you didn't hear what he actually said!
Oh I know. I was piggybacking off your comment. Apologies - wasn’t trying to imply you were in that category!Scorpaguy wrote: ↑25 Oct 2020, 01:41...no hate here, just abject disappointment.
