Anyone else think the last right kink before the start finish is a bit blind, hence dangerous ?

I mean, they go full throttle all the way thru there and they clearly can't see what's behind the barrier..

No more dangerous than plenty of other tracks. You could do the Paul Ricard and make it look like a giant parking lot.

So refreshing to see them on a track like this and the drivers love it.

As Lewis said (paraphrasing), “I don’t know why the new guys can’t design tracks like this anymore”.

And all the above is why this non consistency in track limits is so stupid.

Did he or didn’t he? Which corner? What are the rules at that corner?

It. Should. Be. The. Same. For. Every. Corner.
No it shouldnt. Most corners are “self policed”. You leave the track, you lose time. Penalty already there. The corners that are being policed are the ones where leaving the track doesnt lose but gains you time, hence why they are policed.
Is it not about time someone was sent out with a pot of yellow paint and a brush to put an 'actual' limit where ever it may fall on the white/red/green/pink part of the curb? THIS LINE IS THE LIMIT sort of thing?

There used to be a white one but it does not seem to work these days

What a gorgeous circuit, sad that it took Covid to show F1 the way. Old school driver's circuits that punish mistakes... imagine that. Looking forward to the race tomorrow, another great qualifying effort by Bottas, hopefully he can manage the tires enough tomorrow to hold off Hamilton and turn it into a race.

It’s a fantastic old school venue. The cars look great, the onboards demonstrate what’s good about F1.

Yeah. I am loving this season too, if only for these legendary tracks they are racing on. Unfortunately, F1 is a business and they will not be able to afford another season like this with venues that dont bring in the cash.

Track and TV is what finances the sport. Tracks are only viable if they are either state side financed (the country who wants to use f1 for promotional purposes) or through spectators or both. This year has been and will be very costly for everyone. Just look at Haas going with two pay drivers, possibly Williams too.
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Just tell them they have to keep a portion of the car inside the white line... Done.

A sensor system that cuts engine power when outside the track limits would do the trick. So you simply loose time if you exceed them.

That’s dangerous. You sometimes need to accelerate to avoid a spinning car. Or, if the car goes a few inches over and cuts, the car behind may have some overlap and run into the back of it.

In these high dowforce cars cutting the throttle would be like a brake test, any following car would run in the back of the penalised one.

It would be nice if they had more traditional tracks that depended on spectator revenues and not government funded events by despot countries.

it would have to be something that matters, not just 5 times and you get a flag.
In Qualli it is easy, lose the lap. In the race it has to be some sort of cumulative penalty, for instance 1 second per incidence, taken at pit or end, but once 5 is reached it has to be taken with in 3 laps.
The alternative is that it is taken next race. 5 offences = 1 grid slot. this leaves it open as a strategy if they feel it worth while.

The top teams will not, but the mid teams may like it. Although Grosjens is off

What I think is very strange is they have a video of the safety car illustrating what the limit is, but the limit is actually something else. Second weekend in a row that that is the case. And last weekend they changed it (back) during the weekend. They seem to struggle with what they want to do.

Presumably because they changed the limit on one corner after fp1.
