According to speculation in the media, the Honda Racing Formula One team has found the funds to compete in the first four races of the 2009 F1 season. The British newspaper 'The Guardian', reported that the team is saved a by group of sponsors who support Bruno Senna. The nephew of the famous Ayrton Senna would have been signed as race driver for the outfit alongside Jenson Button.

Now that Richard Branson is mentioned as a buyer of Honda F1, I am eagerly waiting to hear that Sir Paul McCartney is one of Fry's "dozen" of potential buyers. Guilt by association I guess, when Branson is reported to be friends with Adrian Reynard, who is just dying to get back to Brackley and waste somebody else's money.

So now a Honda source confirms that Virgin is a bidder for the team? Sigh, they were better off with the Senor Slim story, when adventurer Richard Branson surely wishes to do the driving himself.

I have been saying for months that Branson needed to get into F1, and holy cow! HE IS!
This could be great, and make no mistake. Branson is a thrill guy, but he would not let that get in the way of the business. If sponsors come to winning teams, he will do whatever is necessary to win, IE: hire top drivers, not himself.
This could be great! I am currently watching the 1995 season, and it is AMAZING to see 26-28 cars on the grid! That and the room that was still there for innovation was great as well.
I already miss it, and I am only on round 5 of the championship!
... but a Virgin representative already denied it, claiming they're involved in London's Marathon, saying that Honda contacted them and not the other way around and that the deal is "in the realm of fables".
Altho i can see that Embratel may not come on board now with Senna if he was to sign as im shure that Virgin would want Virgin Mobile and not Embratel on the car, unless Virgin was not a market player in Telecomunications in Brazil, avoid conflicts of intrest on the car.
I could see the Honda Engines being packages as Atlantic engines to make it Vigin-Atlantic F1 tho.

Not vey successfully I might add.
I'm so sorry to drag this thread back from the dead, I was reviewing 09 posts to try and read up on how the BGP001 was viewed, and couldn't let this go unquoted
Senna should've gotten the seat back then. I think he'll prove this season why.
Regarding the car: That's why we love F1 isn't it, the unpredictability. On a side note, i still do consider the DDD as a political travesty though, it was a lost season.
