Dont see the problem with Max being upset. He could have been the first non Mercedes driver to get a pole. That would have looked impressive, instead he now looks like he couldn't even manage to get a pole in 2020 but Stroll of all people could

there's more to come, I guess. I just checked, both Q1 spins (Kvyat and Latifi) resulted in double waved yellows, and for those the rules fairly clearly say that the driver needs to abort his lap ("it must be clear that he [the driver] has not attempted to set a meaningful lap time, for practical purposes this means the driver should abandon the lap").

From the cars affected by those yellows, Leclerc, Giovinazzi, Russell, Sainz, Ricciardo, Gasly and Norris still improved their lap time.

Ocon, Magnussen, Bottas, Stroll, Perez and Hamilton on the other hand, abandoned their lap.

Just read this on another forum

If Verstappen hadn’t switched to inters, we’d have potentially been talking about one of the most dominant qualifying performances of all time. It’s amazing how performance can be changed by the conditions, and maybe how we may sometimes have to adjust how we view qualifying performances in outlier circumstances

Oh please, he was one of the only not ignoring the yellows.
I think he was actually in front of them, the indecent was after he passed.
Exactly. So he did not ignore them, he was already in front of them when they came. So why did you post that message, if you knew already?
Take a guess? Go on, any thing

Oh I know already. I don’t need to guess. Literally no one is saying one bad word about Hamilton, but getting any good word out about Max performance today is that so much to ask. Rather we laugh at him being disappointed. Or even purely make up facts like him “hiding from the stewards” (but he hasn’t done a thing wrong and certainly did not ignore yellow like you were stating as a fact)to go even a step further.

Ok, I should apologise for the impolite reply. It was a pic, so the obvious reply was a 'caption'. I assumed everyone would understand, which was stupid of me, especially those who live around the world and did not expect a flip reply.

In reality, I hear on a radio clip on youtube that he misread the -1 delta on his display as +1 and he thought he was well in the lead. He has a right to be grabby, I would too.

(ps, 'stating as a fact' is not followed by a question mark. Not a slight on your English it is 100 times better than my Dutch)

Ok, thank you, that was a nice reply. I certainly missed that and appreciate you explaining it, I really thought you were saying he had ignored yellow. I am a bit gutted at the moment. Max was so incredibly fast today and then still no pole in the end. Very clearly some teams got it wrong with set-up. Just 5 teams in Q3. RPs year old Mercedes was very good today and they went on inters soon. Max also got stuck behind kimi for 2 laps, costing him a lot of heat in the tires.

Tires that go off but don't explode when they feel like it would be nice for starters.

This time it is absolutely not tires but the surface. Try driving over an oily surface on a rainy day....

I wouldn’t worry too much. I think he has a great chance at a big win tomorrow. Unless Perez jumps him at the start it should be pretty straightforward for him.

He was thwarted by circumstances only today, but I do think he needs to learn to handle disappointment better though which is probably why people are poking a bit of fun at him. The Red mist and an inability to let things go is the one thing he must learn to control when things don’t go his way.

It was about having a car that could turn the tyres on today. No one was really closw to RP and RB in the wet.

Tbh that was a generalized remark about pirelli tires and not specific to this event. Be curious to see how they react tomorrow if the race is completely dry tho.

He’s ranting and there’s nothing at stake really, for him personally or RBR. It’s hard to imagine how crazy Max would be if he was fighting for the WDC...

Hard to argue with that penalty, I guess ;)
