No, he had to start from the back as they had started an engine changes and then reverted that decision (when all the grid penalty’s came) but FIA was not having that and handed out the penalty. Overtaking today was neigh on impossible. I have also not seen Gasly once, other then pulling into his starting grid slot.

I so enjoyed Vettel's overtaking maneuver and that he finally got on stage! I think Vettel is a very friendly, sensitive and quite humorous man. Often way too sweet.

He also had a helmet design special designed for this weekend, because he felt that kneeling for the GP had become so common.
He wanted to get the attention again with this beautiful helmet and see what appeared in the air after the race !!
Also great how he once again sincerely congratulated Lewis twice on his world championship, like every year. Super!!

Did you see that happen? The stewards did not, neither did I. He did touch the line with his front wheel after the rear broke out. But he exited well passed the line, he did not cut it off.

I think that was the first pit stop I believe he had a moment after his second stop too which was not shown but mentioned in the commentary on Sky

You can see how the air is wrapping around the endplate as the muck acts as flow viz.

I doubt it was the whole reason he finished at the back, otherwise they'd have changed the FW. Bottas just wasn't on it today, he never really looked happy and I lost count of the number of times he spun. On the other end of the spectrum, Verstappen was fast but he was pushing too hard, his spin behind Perez was just stupid.

Feel sorry for Stroll, he was amazing in the opening stages really opening the gap and streaking ahead. Wonder how his race would have turned out had he not pitted for the new set of Inters.

He gets so much hate, and sometimes does stupid stuff. But when the opportunity arises he is there. Today it got robbed off of him by a bad strategy call.

I don’t think he would have won the race, but this could, or better said should, have been a double podium.

Thankfully the remaining races shouldn't see these track surface issues, I certainly didn't enjoy this weekend, it was pretty boring watching the cars tip toe around in Qualifying. They looked better in the race, but overtaking seemed too difficult, I think most position changes were just people making mistakes.

My one regret is that we didn't see the current cars flat out on this track. I'd love to see what they could do as a Q3 lap time.

Well, both drivers had a Frontwing issue. Bottas lost the footplate (at the start spin?) and Max had the wrong wing setting (off by 7 degrees) due to a software glitch in setting up. How much did that effect them both. How can we sit here and be the judge of that? I am by no means a Bottas adept, that is probably clear here, but today he was just dreadfull. Never seen him be so off the pace. But, overtaking here was also neigh on impossible. When you fall back you are suffering the consequences. That too had to be taken into account. Plus, the right front tire was critical here. If you have any aero issue that will be compounded, especially when it is the FW.

It was Lewis his attack on Ricciardo in turn 1 that (Ricciardo yanked away when he saw Lewis) that killed Ocon, Bottas and Ricciardo himself a bit as well, their races. That is how close everything is interrelated.

Apparently Bottas's alignment was off after his touch and second spin on the first lap. Car was pulling to the left and left turns were an issue. Quoted in Autosport.
It was a tiny touch. I do wonder if DAS makes possible misalignment in an accident more likely? If the parts are able to move independently...
