Well I'm guessing the drainage is not the best as they barely get any rain. The track across it is very flat, so standing water would surely be an issue. Plus I'm guessing when it rains in the desert, it pours.

Well I'm guessing the drainage is not the best as they barely get any rain. The track across it is very flat, so standing water would surely be an issue. Plus I'm guessing when it rains in the desert, it pours.

Maybe, but it is a Tilke track and has a grade 1 FIA license, so I would assume it has at least some kind of minimum standard drainage (although could be minimal if the standard is linked to local statistical precipitation). Quick googling showed there was a rained out test there some years back, but the only reason there was no running was that nobody brought inters or wets.

Either way, I kinda think the rain won't really materialize.

Not an expert on drainage, but I would think the problem would be what has got into the runaways since they were cleaned out last. Even if they were cleaned today, with a little wind and maybe one or two wet periods, by next weekends event the run-off's may no longer run-off to anywhere

Given the amount of straights, anything with a Mercedes engine will be happy here... so expecting Mercedes to be unchallenged throughout the weekend. So no real change from the first 2 teams then!

3rd could be interesting; Racing Point should be the 3rd fastest team here, though the Renaults have looked pretty handy on track with some recent straights so they should be in a tight fight there too. I'm quite keen to see how Ferrari goes here, given their lacking of performance from their power unit... don't know how much they can make up through the bends if much but it has traditionally been a solid track for them in years gone by.

Unless it rains, then its a bit of a free for all once again! Unlikely given it is Bahrain, but then again... it is in the name.

Being a Ferrari fan, I should be wishing for it so they might be able to net a decent result and make the most of the conditions like the last time out in Istanbul... but I'd prefer the weekend to be dry.
