Barrier is destroyed, I think it might be a while before they can restart
In my opinion that barrier is unsafe even if repaired. That was big shunt but not a huge one and the car went through it like a piss through the snow!
There are some suspect parts of the circuit, that isn't part of the track and that armco barrier is for a service road.

I'm glad he survived.
He went into the barrier pretty much at 90deg.

These barriers can’t protect against that I’m afraid. It’s designed primarily to bounce you back onto the raceway.
Team ANTI-HYPE. Prove it, then I’ll anoint you.

Folks...we have just witnessed a miracle...albeit a well planned for miracle. Thank you FIA safety measures.

Wow, he had just enough room to get out, that was a few inches away from being so much worse.

I can’t imagine the mindset of the drivers after watching the footage of the accident.

I am amazed and upset by the images of this accident, I thought I would have seen another F1 driver die after seeing that car wreckage. Thank goodness for the advancements in F1 and the Halo, I did complain about it when introduced all them arguments are well and truly disproved now.
Agree. I thought he must be dead. He was sitting in a fireball for at least 5-10 seconds, let alone the viciousness of the impact.

It seems he may have a couple of broken ribs

Not that it takes away from your point, but the firesuits are rated for 60s of open fire (don't know if humans are....)

Looks like the halo has earned its inclusion on the regs. Can't see him surviving going through the barrier without it. It wouldn't have taken his head off.

Glad to see him out and ok.

The FIA should buy that doctor a very big drink. Running in towards that fire takes some balls.

I counted 20 seconds before he got out. I can’t imagine being sat in a firefly hell-ball like that for any time.

Without the halo his head would have been cut off. Wow
