What I want to see more than anything, is how well George does on the long runs!
This. I have no doubt he’ll be bad fast in wualifying, but it’s the nuances in managing tires, etc that comes with a lot of seat time that I am interested in seeing play out.

This track is going to be interesting strategy wise, as a pit stop will be worth about half a lap in time lost, the lack of clean air, and this track will likely reward good race craft.

This probably isn't going to do Bottas any good psychologically, after the beating he's had the WDC this year. To whom it may concern, you might be right?

Maybe he'll turn it around in FP2 :?

He seemed completely out of sorts with the car. He went really wide at turn 2, and i don't think i've ever seen that before.

Lots of left front locking. Not sure if he was getting in his own head and panicking or actually had a set up issue. You would think the Jr. ranks would have sorted the drivers with serious head issues, but being Hamilton’s teammate may have brought out insecurities that he didn’t know existed. Most of these guys were the top dog on their team and had a lot of success coming up, to get beat week in week out.. these guys aren’t wired for that, including Valteri.

FP2 should he a better indicator as teams likely practice race strategies.

Too much front roll stiffness, but if you compromise front roll stiffness then you need to raise front ride height to keep the front wing from hitting the ground, or change caster setting to get less wheel jacking, however this would make the steering a smidgen less precise. Maybe an extra degree more front wing angle on the left to help keep the tire loaded on that part.

One thing to notice, the trailing car in loses front wing performance, the cars that are destined to be in traffic perhaps will need to compensate for this by running more front wing, and then changing the level as the fuel burns off. Perhaps a 2 stop is necessary simply to get the wing level correct for the fuel load and tires.

Absolutely, but that only applies if Valteri wasn’t getting lost in his head. Only he and his race engineer / data guy would really know.

You'd be forgiven to think the Merc drivers have swapped helmets.

Does this confirm that it's all the car and Hamilton isn't as good as people think... Russell is as good as Hamilton... or Bottas v20.8 is no good?!

That would cause an inner wheel to lock. He's constantly locking the outer wheel into T1.

Turn 8 needs a speed bump at the exit, outside of the track limits.

Did I hear George is running with DAS and Bottas without? or did I get it the wrong way around?

There is no doubt in my mind that Russell can be as good as Hamilton. But can he be as good as Hamilton for as long as Hamilton has been Hamilton? I think that question a lot of F1 drivers are yet to prove.
