Two US F1 team trailers have been put up for sale on eBay. The trailers were originally purchased from Brawn GP, and were planned to be used for the 2010 season. However, when USF1 ran into difficulties just weeks before the start of the season, which were discribed by the team as "serious economic and funding challenges", they were unable to make the grid in Bahrain.
Post here all non technical related topics about Formula One. This includes race results, discussions, testing analysis etc. TV coverage and other personal questions should be in Off topic chat.
OK, watched the 'launch' on SpeedTV. Missed a bit though by connection lost. So, if I understood correctly, it's still open what powertrain, drivetrain and KERS they will use and that it could be almost any brand since most of them are related to the US? They also keep stating that about 90% of all F1 technology comes from the US and gave CFD as an example. What other F1 technology is also US patented
Losers focus on winners, winners focus on winning.
Microsoft ECU software. And BMW's Albert 2 is Intel processers and probably the best CFD hardware in F1. Also, Ferrari's new simulator is to be American made:
We were told that the company will now develop a "next-generation" simulator that will be installed in one of the new buildings in Ferrari’s headquarter in Maranello. According to our sources, U.S.-based Moog will use specialized versions of AMD-ATI hardware for the system. Apparently, it was AMD who brought Moog and Ferrari together on one table.
Both Moog and Ferrari confirmed that an agreement was signed. In a short statement, Ferarri’s Marco Fainello saidK "The dynamic driving simulator is a new step for us in developing virtual tests that give drivers the true feel of a real environment and direct feedback on their actions".
So they basically think this is piece of cake and will be like the 60s LeMans with the Ford GT40?
I really don´t like these ideas of "all american" or "all japan" or "all indian" wababe teams. One thing I consider good about globalization is the end of the "much defined" borders. This is one world and we are all human inside it.
If I had a healthy team I would hire THE BEST engineers, technological partners, suppliers, drivers and the fact that they are from X or Y country wont mean much to me.
Race purity doesnt exist anymore, Hamilton is not that British, Nico Rosberg is not that German, neither is Adrian Sutil (he is half Uruguayean) and even Hitler was said to have some Jewish roots.
Havent you "hated" the guys from the next town/state because a local sport? And then "hated" the guys from the next Coutry while being united like a brother to the guy you previously "hated" from the other Town/State, just because "now its the world cup we are talking about"! Well, that is all crap, in different scales.

'Professor', do you have a link or any type of source for what you last posted? Thanks in advance.
AFAIK, Ferrari are currently using the simulator at FIAT, and I haven't heard anything about acquiring one of their own for the Maranello base.
"Belatti", Calm down please. Please don't bring up Hitler or Nazi related stuff up. I don't mean to kill discussion, but lets keep it nice and clean, and on-topic.
They presented a great deal if you value purpose and intent. Money is just money, not the arbiter of success. BAR "showed you the money" when they launched...where are they now.
And "all-American" is just the spirit of that intent. It would be silly to rely solely on one country for anything, especially this one with its literacy rate. I'm sure the team's directors are not limiting themselves to "only" US talent.
At the very least this launch made me go from speculative interest to full-blown anticipation. You naysayers are going to be eating mad crow.
Anywho there have been several wrong rumours about our team on the net that we would like to adress right now:
* Ralf Schumacher is not, and I repeat, he is not part of TeamAmericaF1. TeamAmericaF1 only occupies honest americans. While we recognize Ralf Schumacher as one of the best drivers in history, he is not part of our team. Even if it looks that way, because he is hanging around our testing facilities.
Ralf Schuhmacher does sleep in front of the doors of the TeamAmericaF1 headquater and when we begin our day he does beg us to let him atleast test our cars. He did get past our security and got inside the TAF1 P01, but the engine wasn’t build in yet and he couldn’t start the car. He is infact loitering around our facilities, but he is not part of our team and woun’t be.

Well from the start this isn't an "All-American" team because one of the founders, Peter Windsor, is English. I understand the "All-American" theme they present because that is what us American's love to hear. If they were to present the team as just another F1 team with the same kind of secret, hollier than thou attitude no one, especially the good ol' boys in North Carolina, would get behind the effort. Other than complete lack of entertaining racing this is part of the problem the IRL has competing against Nascab, it dosn't have an American feel anymore.
All said and done though, they will hire some high level Euopean people for mamagement positions because that is where they will find the most hands on expierence. I would imagine from there it will be mostly American though.

1. While I am an America I too dislike the idea of having a team based on National origin in F1. When I was new to the sport one thing that interested me so much about Formula 1 was its truly global feel. I love the fact that the sport travels around the world, appealing to the masses regardless of nationality, religion or race. However, in this particular case I understand, and agree with their decision to brand the team USF1. The problem with F1 in the United States is not the lack of teams, talent or drivers, the fundamental problem is that the sport is under represented commercially and has an insufficient fan base to justify such commercial representation. USF1 is not mealy an F1 team, this is a bold attempt to brand F1 in the States and bring it to US fans who have little or no exposure to this awesome sport. Such an attempt would have to be bold, and would have to be brazenly American for it to have any chance at accomplishing its goals.
I really hope that this project succeeds, as it would be a great accomplishment for the team and for Formula 1. This is truly the greatest motorsport (or sport) in the world, and I want others to share in its greatness with the rest of us.
2. Is that quote about Ralfy boy authentic? If so that is hilarious!

I watched the press conference, and IMO, they were trying to convince investors rather than talking about a serious proyect. I don't see anything solid about this "team", no engines/drivetrains/kers, no big money behind them or previous chassis expertice to start. So I don't know if 2010 is a real possibility, unless they're planning to run a customer car.
I would still like to see them race competitively though.

Ken Anderson has the engineering experience to build the chassis.
