Merc should have stuck with Russell, they could have had pole ( )
Absolutely!
No, Bottas beat Russel in qualifying last race! So Russel would still be 3rd today

Actually, it was probably better for Russell not to be here this week, or some would say 'look, the first time a Red bull in front, Russell failed'
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

Hamilton slid in turn six. Some time on the table.

Bulls are within a shout of pole. Albon on the pace for once.

Sort of a boring session.
I'm astounded that you can find this session boring!

It's the first non Mercedes pole of the year, with Norris in 5th, kvyat in 7th, Albon more on the pace, and Bottas and Hamilton actually close together.

Astounding fan logic to find this boring.
Agreed, I found it very tense. Especially Norris v Sainz, Bottas under pressure with Toto speaking to him on the radio, Max pulling out the hero lap. Good stuff.

The lap he did was a 1:43 that's midfield race pace with a full tank.
I timed it with a stop watch and it was a 1:42.777
Pace is still upper mid field in a car that weighs nearly 200kg less. Today's cars have too much torque and aero.
Agree just confirming the 1:43 time you mentioned

Well Lewis is just coming off Covid-19 so maybe a few tenths given away. Hmm. Meh. Should be a decent race.
As expected. Excuses. If he wasn't fit, he shouldn't have been there. He compromised the result for the team.
Really? trolling? how did you come to that conclusion?

Bottas will finish behind his teammate (unless they screw up) and it won’t be his fault.

As for Verstappen. He once again shows what everyone knew. He’s rapid. =D> =D>

Curious as to why pole is 5 tenths off of last year
Tires.
Because of tyre pressure or track temp? Seems like a lot considering how much downforce this Mercedes has than last year's

Yeah, the final Q3 lap he was 0.367 seconds off Max, he should have split the two mercedes at least

He was closer to max in q2 times because max did his lap long before him and that too on mediums when ALbon did it on softs

Could you lick it better than this? Move on. Bad result, under performance on a track where Mercedes used to dominate. They brought an unfit driver, who should have told them he isn't fully fit. Their fault. Stop the nonsense and accept it.

The graphics were wrong then. It showed +0.490 when he crossed the line on his final lap.

Still, getting beaten by a McLaren is not a good showing.
