they had everything to lose if they pitted either a 2nd time as albon was right up there and we saw how hard it was to pass today. its the sterile track, sc trigger happy and linear tyre strat bs thats at fault.
When they followed Max into the pits with both cars, they effectively gave up any chance of winning the race. They took the guaranteed 2 & 3.

If they had left Hamilton out, yes, they probably would have finished 4th with him, but there was always a potential for something else happening. The point being, if you dont risk anything, there’s no gain to be made.

And we would have had a better race for it.
given the mercs mguk issues, max probably wouldve just cruised right past either of them. it wouldve only worked if it was a vsc but sc expectedly ruined any chance of alternate strats.

Goes to show when Max gets an equal car he's easily able to destroy anything bottas or hamilton can throw at him. Mercedes might even threw this race by using unfit for duty Hamilton instead of Russel :!:
Not really. Albon so close to Hamilton suggests somewhat more than an ‘equal’ car. The Red Bull was clearly the fastest package in the race.

Abu Dhabi... one of the most boring track during the season. Even Monaco is more interesting.

You might have had a point if Albon hadn't cruised up to the back of the Mercs at the end. The Mercs were definitely running wounded today.

Just bring C5 only tyres to this track, and mandate a minimum of 3 pit stops. Can't be worse than what we get now.

Horrible race...BUT...Ham was visibly not 100%. Still, even with this snooze fest...it was an interesting season. Big winner...Rus's reputation. Biggest loser...tie between Bot's rep/Big Red's rep.

Super congrats to Ham...GOAT! Was it the car??? ...same thing said about Vet's RB. As for MS...records are made to be broken, no shame in that. In an alternate universe where Max drives the Merc...he wiped the floor with Ham.

Races in the rain are the best equalizer, and to my knowledge, Max has beaten him just once.

Goes to show the RedBull was the best car today. Albon finished close to the Mercedes.

The post race enquiry into Sainz's pit lane behaviour could be interesting. They're discussing a professional foul. Fat lady might sing a mighty loud song...
For Mclaren to lose 3rd, would need Sainz to receive over 37 seconds of penalty. so I think the fat lady is all ready finished.

Awesome race from Max and hopefully a sign of things to come next season. Good job on RedBull Honda for this season ending dominant win. No idiots shedding parts and puncturing Max's tires. Sorry if you were bored but at least a non Merc won instead of the typical bore fest and unfortunately no meltdown from team Mercedes. Too bad for RP to be let down by their PU again!

It's a deliberate foul that leads to a material change in the results. Disqualification shouldn't be ruled out.

Did you watch the replay ? He barely slowed down at all, had two lifts, maybe fell from 80 to 70 and not much more, if at all. Also, in the post race interview with sky, Carlos said he slowed down a bit because people were coming in and out of their boxes in a frantic manner and that he wanted to be safe, which we know isn't %100 the truth, but nevertheless a reasonable defence.

There is absolutely no way he'll get more than 10 seconds for this. Considering where Lance finished, and how benign his 'lifts' were, I'd say he'll get nothing or 5 seconds tops (and he'd get that as a precedent, not that there aren't any previous ones, but to stay consistent etc.).
