Perez will be given a one year contract. Albon to sit as test and reserve for one year, staying in the family, til Perez or Gasly can find another seat. Albonwill not get winter testing days because of the shortened testing days.

People have been saying that Perez is more deserving of a seat than Albon. Suppose the rumors are true that Red Bull is indeed hiring Perez. (And I hope they are.) Can we then start saying that Albon is more deserving of a seat than (for example) Latifi? Where does it end? Maybe drivers should be limited to 1-year contracts. Maybe that would avoid these kinds of situations.

I think its just a case of Perez being a decent driver, therefore he deserves a seat in F1. Albon is just an average driver and there are hundreds of them waiting around. Albon, Latifi, Giovinazzi, Grosjean, KMag, Kvyat are all the same, Ocon & Kimi are almost in there too now. So if someone like Perez is available and a seat is free next year, if its an average driver that may occupy the seat, then I'd say Perez is more deserving, but I wouldnt say Albon is more deserving than Latifi as they are very much the same thing.

In his notebook. Post GP edition.
Has it been made clear which is the driver and which the reserve?
It's got to be Albon as reserve. Cruel as that may be, it's crueler to have Perez literally breathing down his neck and the team waiting for the first mistake. It'll ruin the boy.
I was thinking along the lines of having Albon doing one free prac and being seen on cam for interviews etc to keep his people happy while Checo does the race and gets the points.

The thing is his people own the big red logo in the shape of a bull on the top bit of the car. :D
But lets hope they let Sergio drive.

So if they are able to 'produce him' at events as a Red Bull formula one driver, would the other option not cover it, while having Red Bull in a better position in the tables?

The "reserve" seat is technically a seat definitely specially if COVID is going to hang around.

Oh OK, it's just a reposting of the Ted's notebook comment. I thought PZ must have had some secondary or other confirmation.

Not a bad idea, but then they are just constantly putting Perez at a disadvantage to his own team mate and every other driver on the grid so what's the point? This is what I mean about Red Bull messing around with drivers and not making clear/firm/fair decisions. You'll never get the best out of anyone if you treat them like that. Just s*** or get off the pot.

He already invited them for a drink after his win in Sakhir, i thought that was pretty clear enough.

I think Sergio is a person that is loyal and grateful, i think that's why he is clearly 'hurt' that the team he helped save turned their back on him. He's probably showing his gratitude for getting an opportunity with RBR, and that as an 'outsider' so to speak. Whether that means he actually has a race seat @ RBR is another story, RBR could very well, thanks to their experiences and contact portfolio helped Sergio to a seat somewhere.

Personally i think Sergio's win in Sakhir essentially signed a deal with RBR for 2021.
A seat at a team where he probably will race for anyway as of 2022.

In regards to RBR claiming the seat will be announced before Christmas, they're probably just finishing legal work to get rid of Albon. Or perhaps better said, transfer him from RBR to AT.
This would mean they have to deal with Tsunoda. I'm sure Tsunoda is patient enough to wait another year.
The question is will Alex be too high-horsed to get back to AT? If so, he will lose any chance in F1 in the future, and perhaps even make it harder for him to get a seat outside of F1.

RBR has their fingers outside of F1 too, so he could take his chances and race in another class instead, if he doesn't want the AT seat.

Russell has to make space for Nissany to drive in FP1 too. It's usual. :)
