Especially, when cars have a setback with floor changes for 2021. With 2022 coming in with cost cutting, 2021 is going to be full on development for 2022 car, which means, RB17 isn't going to get a great deal of development time. If RB17 comes with same issues then I don't see how Perez can do better than Gasly and Albon did (if he is driving) . He isn't the best qualifier either and neither is Red Bull is a second-driver friendly or a patient team either. Time would tell.
Well, I wouldn't say it's 'usual' but yes, very true! It's something the smaller non contending teams do occasionally for money which Red Bull clearly don't need to and absolutely shouldn't do if they are really serious about any title aspirations. They need to wring the absolute maximum out of that number 2 car.JordanMugen wrote: ↑15 Dec 2020, 15:20Russell has to make space for Nissany to drive in FP1 too. This is what I mean about Red Bull messing around with drivers and not making clear/firm/fair decisions. You'll never get the best out of anyone if you treat them like that. Just s*** or get off the pot.
Like Vettel does you mean?JordanMugen wrote: ↑15 Dec 2020, 21:42Surely a seasoned top driver like Perez knows how to handle a twitchy car without issue, which is the difference that RBR are looking for?
I can't help but wonder whether in 2021 it might be Russell taking over a certain Mercedes for a few FP1 sessions.....JordanMugen wrote: ↑15 Dec 2020, 15:20Russell has to make space for Nissany to drive in FP1 too. Have we found sport of the long lonely off season ? At what stage, if Perez does not perform does Albon get his seat back?JordanMugen wrote: ↑15 Dec 2020, 21:42Surely a seasoned top driver like Perez knows how to handle a twitchy car without issue, which is the difference that RBR are looking for?
Why do you think Perez wasn’t quick at mclaren, he had the measure of button in total race pace.....Racer X wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020, 01:38It's quite possible that RedBull will be impatient with Perez the same way they were with Gasly. So he will have to come out and quickly adapt to the RedBull. They will surely do a lot of work with him during the off season in their simulator to bring him up to speed.
His days in McLaren could be a preview of what might happen at RedBull we might see a team that expects him to be quick immediately and axe him if hes not. I think there will be zero tolerance for failure for Perez. Because he's not from their academy specially when you keep in mind that RedBull doesn't have patience even for the driver's from their academy. So definitely Perez will have to be fast quickly.
But I'm repeating myself here.... I'm pretty sure RedBull Will do and probably always does make sure that their incoming driver's have a lot *of* prep time in the off season. Sergio's experience with McLaren will help him adapt to the faster pace of a top team.
If he gets signed....

Perez scored podiums every year that he was team mates with Nico.
I don’t think it’s an experience thing. I think it can be learnt, or it could be instinctive even for some. But I don’t think experience automatically helps in this regardJordanMugen wrote: ↑15 Dec 2020, 21:42Surely a seasoned top driver like Perez knows how to handle a twitchy car without issue, which is the difference that RBR are looking for?
I agree. Charles has a handle on it, he has no experience when comparing him to Seb.raymondu999 wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020, 10:23I don’t think it’s an experience thing. His rookie and 2nd seasons are missing as well people rate Albon and other driver's so highly who are driving McLaren's and Ferraris RedBulls but Sergio Perez in a Sauber almost won a race in his second season and scored points on his debut race.NathanOlder wrote: ↑16 Dec 2020, 10:16Perez scored podiums every year that he was team mates with Nico.
Perez had the measure of Button in the late season.
why is 2017 missed out ?
same for 2019 and now 2020?
