There are some unfair assessment here for Red Bull drivers. As for Gasly, it was known he could not set the car up right. At some point he would go so far in extreme that they ended up use Max setup for him. I think that’s one of the reason people forget or dismiss when considering swapping him with Albon this season. On Albon, disappointing season for sure but it was said end of last season and this season also from Horner and Max, that Albon feedback to the car matches Max. He couldn’t drive around it. I think that maybe one of the trait where red Bull would be considering keeping him next to Max.

As for Perez, then it comes down to would you listen to his feedback to develop the car over Max? Answer this question from Newey, Red Bull’s point of view.

A bit out of topic here, do we have the dates for the preseason tests next year?

Newey is not going to change anything just to 'keep a driver happy' he will design the car that goes around quickest and take no account of the driver.

It is the engineers actually trackside who need the feedback from the drivers and the sim.
Albon (and Gasly) have only the other red bull derived car to compare things with, and probably do not know what possibilities there are to make the car suite them better as they wont know what adjustments to ask for as much as anything else.

Perez has driven several different cars and not only knows what can be adjusted and what these adjustments do, but can also speak from a position of authority after having been there-done that, where Albon and Gasly are probably looked on as 'new boys who know nothing' and the engineers go their own way where they are not explicit or where the engineer disagrees with them.

So the ten f1 bosses have voted on their top 10 drivers of 2020. Each driver on their lists receives points for where they placed and it was put in to championship order.

Hamilton came out on top.
Bottas was in the top 10.

This is the F1 bosses, so can people who continuously go on about Bottas being the worst driver on the grid please stop now?

Top 10 while being in a car that is not just fast, but fastest by a country mile. Doesn't prove your point at all, so don't try.

F1 bosses gave Bottas 27 points, while Hamilton got 171. I think you proved everyone else's point, not yours.

Where does that leave drivers not in the to 10? including Kimi? :o

I think this is about driver's performance relative to their equipment. For example, LeClerc got third rank because he managed to put that Ferrari in positions where it did not belong (acc. to that article). I think that is why Kimi et al don't appear on that list (because they didn't do anything remarkable?!) So based on that, Bottas appears even more weak, having the fastest car, finishing runner-up, and yet next to last on the list.

I don't think this is relevant in a "silly season" thread. This isn't a driver ranking thread

Why? What different mechanism did the F1 team bosses have used more than what an F1 fan has seen? Except for F1 team boss of their own team, no team boss has data for other drivers and honestly, I think they have looked at it on the face of it and rated. I am not sure if they have spent more than 10 mins to simply sort the list.

Do you think every team boss passionately follow all the drivers on the grid to fully assess their season long performance? Hell, I think they would have simply done inky pinky ponky after the first two (which is a no brainer). It doesn't change anything for people who think Bottas is worst driver on the grid, who have seen Bottas for the past 4 years in the class leading machines.

While the team bosses generally are engrossed in managing their own team's race weekends (there are tons of things they need manage themselves) and scratching on understanding their own immediate competition, the fans, atleast the ones here, are critically looking at every aspect of most drivers on every race weekend. So for me personally, this is definitely not the thing you should put in front and say, stop criticizing Bottas.

Its nothing to do with the car. its 2020 driver performance but as usual some people just can't see it or accept it. Its voted by team principles anonymously. Bottas came out as 9th best on the grid. But I guess the team bosses have no clue blah blah blah. Never mind. Bottas is clearly the worst on the grid and Mercedes hire the worst drivers for the fun of it. makes total sense.

dude, you dont even realise there are 20 drivers. I totally get why you think Bottas is the worst now. If there were only 10 drivers, I guess he is pretty much the worst. At least I get your angle now.

Kimi doesn't appear on the list because he's not in the top 10. what has he done this season other than a lap in Portugal. He scored the same points as Giovinazzi who we nearly all agree isn't good enough for F1. Kimi is past it now.

Come on man. Please stop the nonsense. You posted the article and made your point. Why are you going on tackling other users' opinion. Why can't you make peace with your opinion and let other have theirs?

That's fair enough.

Are you honestly saying that Bottas is ranked 20 out of the current drivers?
