love that they even feel the need to blur out video material, no closeup pics released...etc im sensing the force is strong this year ;-) or im just paranoid :-)

Where's the source of this? I tried looking on Instagram and Twitter but could not find it.

Kind of intriguing that they find the need to block the suspension setup when there's plenty of pictures online available of the MCL35's exposed front suspension layout.
Maybe something has changed that they don’t want us or anyone else to see

the video is from twitter, when you se it, its obvious that a part has been blurred slightly, thats all, and then i notice, compared to previous years, where we got lots of good pics, closeups etc. this year we have two from the front, taken at reasonable distance... im not saying they are trying to hide... and offcourse makes good sense since they have their car ready so early

Clear cutting can also be clearly seen at the diffuser

That baldness is even more noticeable at the rear of the car. The complex diffuser has been almost completely polished off. All that's left is a simple rectangular, upside-down container. Just like the floor for the rear wheels, we will also see this with the other teams. Below you can first see the diffuser from 2020 and then again below the diffuser for 2021.

Is this guy on drugs ??
Same site that announced the "breaking news" of the "deal" between McLaren and Rich Energy.

I suggest you find more reputable sources before your brain rots from all the garbage.

Very basic launch spec. Still weeks to go till pre-season tests so no point wasting resources producing new parts. Very smart to get some running in tomorrow's shakedown.
It's a render so they are not constrained by producing parts. What they are not showing, they are doing on purpose.

What is the most important takeaway from today is that James Key believes they clawed back the losses of aero due to regulations. Obviously he doesn't know what other teams did. If true, this sounds very good for the season. Regulations were intended to slow down the cars so if McLaren got it all back, they should be good (or regulations were too lax).

One other takeaway is his talk about diffusor. He said they did not understand aerodynamics of "new regulation" diffusor until they started working on it. Could this be a clue that they found something innovative in this area?

If they got the downforce back and now have a more powerful engine, it's time to start the party :D. Joking, but cautiously optimistic for the season.
I was more referring to the car's pictures. The bargeboards and all the aero will probably substantially change in pre-season tests given there are still 4 weeks to go and they'd probably want more development time. The shakedown is primarily for ironing out the mechanical niggles.

Everyone expected cars to reach similar performance as last year, the objective was to prevent further progress beyond the tyres' threshold.

like some mentioned,longer wheelbase
https://www.mclaren.com/racing/2021/car ... y-changes/
"Nevertheless, the switch to Mercedes power has resulted in a new chassis; gearbox; and fuel, hydraulic, electrical and cooling systems. Even the wheelbase has changed: we’ve had to extend it slightly because the gearbox bell housing is longer to accommodate the Mercedes engine."

Agree, very pronounced overcut .
The sidepod shape does look a lot like the Racing Point upgrade package from last year
I believe the Racing Point concept is a very different concept and way to manage that “over cut” on the side pods... Yes, Mclaren also has one, but it’s a very different treatment of that area

All the other Merc cars have that slide down the back of the radiators in the pods. In my opinion, I don't see that in the McLaren ... There is a little bit of it but not as pronounced.

The Car is narrower at the "Arrow" badges but wider at the Splunk and the shark fin has less fin, more stuff in it.

Maybe a conservative start for cooling puposes ??

Isn't it interesting how those are called "filming days" but all the footage we actually get to see is from people around the track with smartphones?

I don’t remember their being any journalists at filming days before, only testing

I’d imagine there may be a promo video released with higher res footage at a later date, but with testing so far away still we might have to wait till closer the time

McLaren will not want to give anything away that could be copied by other teams this early in the game with plenty of time for teams to replicate before testing even starts
