Ferrari SF21

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

that's some skinny, tight area at the gearbox section
and that nose is interesting. That's quite the refined car imho, didn't expect so 'much' change

Anyway, I found the launch video to be actually informative for once.

Compared to the other cars it seems like Ferrari has made the most visible changes for 2021. I guess we’ll find out if they’re good ones soon.
Even more changes than Aston you reckon?... I mean, they have a complete new rear end inherited from Mercedes, and completely different sidepods/monocouqe middle section aswell....

How can they not use any tokens for the nose??? It's been modified quite heavily similar to alfa Romeo.

that's a really good looking car from this angle. interesting angle aswell!

reminds me of the 2007/2008 cars with the 'excessive' fins everywhere.

Apparently they didn't change the crash structure inside the nose (that is the part that is homologated and tokens must be used to change it) but just changed the bits on the outside.

Visibly I think so. They’ve seemed to have touched almost every section on the SF21’s bodywork and it also is sporting a new rear suspension. The Aston at least kept the same nose design.

Either way, I’m pretty impressed so far.

Like with everything, but I just wonder what advantage you gain with this design.

They can have thinner pipe = less weight, then the rules define it must be wider for the last few cm, so they changed the diameter back...
