DRIVER'S EYE - Yuki Tsunoda's Helmet Cam in Imola

wow, that's the most amazing driver view footage i have EVER seen,
thanks for sharing this, upvote for you Wouter!

Interesting that they're blurring the steering wheel

Look at how violent that shaking is of the helmet, and how fast these cars really go.
The current gen onboard camera's (and trackside too for that matter) really don't do any justice to the speed F1 cars carry. This is just mind boggling.

I just checked something for fun. Well if it takes ~13 seconds to go from pit entrace to braking zone, then that's on par with 2020 Mercedes Q3 time. About .2-.3 faster than Verstappen managed in Q3? Not completely sure.

How do you know that? There is nothing to be seen on the steeringwheel.

You count the time stamp on the video using the same reference points of another video. That gives you the time taken to cross that distance.

They don't want you to see the speed of the car among other things, because then you can get a pretty good guess of the power based on acceleration and top speed.

He measured the time from pit entry to the braking zone. I’m assuming from 3:45 to 3:58.

But that can never be accurate, can it? This is about tenths of a second.

Can't be accurate indeed and especially concidering there's no idea whether he was putting the pedal to the metal for example. Also, one driver can have blazingly purple sectors in sector 1 and 2, but still lose to the other driver who makes up everything and gains some in sector 3.

on a filming day, using demo tyres, carrying unknown amount of fuel? well... its even less saying, than anything from preseason tests.

The distance and throttle application from Tamburello to the first braking zone is the same. Download the youtube video, then use video editing software and if you know the frame rate, you can count time by counting frames. Down to whatever the framerate is. If 30 that's enough to see tenths.

This only works if the braking point is the same. In a qualifying lap they will be pushing the braking point as late as possible, something they aren't doing on a filming day.
