Leclerc sounds positive about the car, so that’s promising.

"Everything feels quite good. But it’s very difficult to comment now. Nobody’s pushing everything to its limit, especially in those conditions. So for now, it’s early days. But everything feels good and as I said, stacks up with what we expected."

Sainz 13 lap stint on C3. Consistent, but 1:39’s is slow.

Tsunoda did a similar length stint on c3 also in the 1:36’s-1:37’s
Likelihood Sainz was running a higher fuel load: <high>
He is driving to a time delta

Agreed. I think Leclerc is doing the same at the moment.

Let hope its true. LEC was so slow compared to Perez on long runs, 1,3 sec per lap. He was slower then GAS in AT.

No DRS, not even 8th gear on main straight.

Is this amount of movement common for rear wing under load? It looks like it is more than suspension squat.
Yup, everyone does this for quite a while now.

Where did the diffuser strakes go? (The ones whose height was going to be reduced?)

Very large exhaust vents though :? Hope they can tighten the coke bottle later on

Yes, it looks a bit slow indeed. On a 15 lap run on C3s, his lap times slipped from 1'36ish to 1'38ish (circa 2 sec. delta overall). Not looking so great at the moment (high tyre degradation? #-o ), but we'll see.

Ferrari has an extremely simple diffuser compared to the ones of Mclaren, RB, Mercedes.
(I haven't see others).

I'm actually slightly worried. He sounds like he's trying his best not to set expectations, I suspect if he was really positive he'd have said something like "the new car is a big step forward, I am happy" but he only talks about the correlation being okay

Couple that with them not having lit up the timing screens I'm guessing maybe their rivals have taken a good step forward and theirs was not as big. This is all just testing though and I hope I'm not reading too much into things

I'll wait for Binotto's brief, he always tells it like it is

I don’t think any one from Ferrari will be saying statements like that moving forward. I think they burnt their hands after the 2019 preseason. I agree with what his intent is. Binotto said they were seeing good steps in the simulation and Leclerc saying they are seeing those steps is positive indeed.
Although we should not be expecting Ferrari to beat Merc this year. I’m hoping they will be close to the top two.

I do see your point but I think you can be positive without setting too high expectations. "The car feels like a big step forward but of course we won't know where we stand until Q3". Coupled with a time that makes people raise their eyebrows, but again maybe I'm reading too much into things

I think if they're at Aston Martin's level or above they've done a good job, but I also think Aston Martin may break away from the rest of the midfield pack this year

I think i know why Ferrari didn't go the whole way in the Mercedes suspension concept.
The way their hot air exits are designed a good chunk of the suspension is blocked from the stream coming from the coke, a lot less to be gained for compromising suspension geometry.
