Well we knew going in that they were throwing limited resources at 2021.
Yikes! That's really exposed! They might have to use my invention, the High Halo for Ocon.cheeRS wrote: ↑14 Mar 2021, 20:24outer_bongolia wrote: ↑14 Mar 2021, 20:15Wow. Comparing these pictures, Ocon looks like he’s sitting a lot higher than Alonso. I wonder what it does to the air coming in from the lower inlet.Blackout wrote: ↑13 Mar 2021, 10:27They are running the shorter roll hoop cover today + the smaller hot air exits at the back of the car

He sure does! Wonder how that effects the protection from the halo
So about those slots...???PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑03 Mar 2021, 01:46Remove your shades.shady wrote: ↑03 Mar 2021, 00:06The cape isnt slotted, thats an optical illusion.
The outer edge of the cape is lower than the 'mainplane' of the cape, it falls off a bit. the white lights above make that transition look like a slot. In addition, there are vertical strakes on the cape as well, they look almost like hooks, they are just flow conditioners, the combination of these plus the angle make it look like a slot.
Hmm nothing has changed from when I said I wait till a few races. Sometimes the CG images usually have parts that are being considered for future races.shady wrote: ↑14 Mar 2021, 22:57So about those slots...???PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑03 Mar 2021, 01:46Remove your shades.shady wrote: ↑03 Mar 2021, 00:06

You can watch where the mechanics stick the dry ice blowers when they bring the car into the garage.Blackout wrote: ↑14 Mar 2021, 22:57And the adding of these new air inlets inside the lower roll hoop duct, which has been remodeled as well IMO, is quite intriguing...
It seems the walls of the lower duct do not diverge/expand anymore.... so it is possible that the lower intake does not serve for CCS cooling anymore (or far less than before) and that it feeds the compressor instead...
EDIT: it still looks too big for the compressor... so I bet it's divided between compressor air supply and cooling...

Exactly...
Amazing, thank you for these illustrations!Blackout wrote: ↑15 Mar 2021, 13:29Exactly...
Mclaren had the exact same engine in 2020 and despite that they had a much thinner rollhoop... (AND more undercut sidepods)
The bodyworks had different widths simply because the positioning of the 'CCS' coolers inside was different.
The Renault had/have a wider radiator placed further forward just above the engine so it must be inserted between the compressor duct (blue) and the engine, and sit in a more flat position (about 30°) and go wide, while the other CCS (except the Mercedes teams) are positioned at 60°-70° further back and can go long and thin...

Some look very exposed (RB, Alpine, MCL, Ferrari), so some seem to be less exposed...
