Force India VJM02

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

When Vijay Mallya was not present at yesterday's FOTA meeting, while McLaren had two representatives, I wonder if FI is not a McLaren B-team after all?
VJM will be at today's press conference however. :)

You are right though, Vijay doesn't love the sport
I hundred percent agree with you , he dosent love the sport .
What was more unfortunate was that he's making stupid comments about things he really dosent know about .

Examples :
Where was Ferrari before Schumi? Without him they would be nowhere .
A team like Ferrari took five years to win its first points. ( when asked when his team would start earning points )

>>>>>
well Mr.Mallya Ferrari was still among the top 5 teams when schumi came .
And the about the 5 year thing , If Enzo Ferrari had the money you had Ferrari would have won its first race itself .
Clearly his motive is money. From where did the idea of the Indian GP come????
This country consumes lesser fuel than california !!! HEHE even i was amazed !!!!
So clearly you can see the country's interest in motor sports .

But yes you can earn a lot of money here .And Bernie is attracted to money like shark is to blood .

Think how many extra testing miles the McLaren Engine/gearbox/KERS is going to have with McLaren, FI and Brawn GP - compared to the other teams.

Does anyone know what other teams are using the same KERS system?

Atleast he saved a team from F1 which was bankrupt!
And got a good deal with Mclaren and ensured its future!
do u really want to see 10 car grid? just coz the team owner was interested in money.
And the about the 5 year thing , If Enzo Ferrari had the money you had Ferrari would have won its first race itself .
hypocrite???
If Force India had a lot of money they would have won a race by now? [-X
Clearly his motive is money. From where did the idea of the Indian GP come????
Coz its growing economy is greater than USA and China
and all teams can get lot of sponsorship from there
which mean they can survive longer! which is good for the sport.

So clearly you can see the country's interest in motor sports .
what has fuel consumption go to do with interest in motorsports?
does those people with interest in motorsports drink petrol instead of beer?? :?:
it shows that there are much less cars in the country than other country
and people usually use public transport over private vehicles!
Also that they are not extravagant as Americans

and could u plz give us the source of the info?

Is that the reason he spent between $100 million and $150 million to buy some island off monte carlo ????
It made it to the front page in the papers here(i am indian)
what has fuel consumption go to do with interest in motorsports?

I love cars , I love F1
How many cars do you see if you go outside cities(read villages) ????

Have you heard of the Renault road show which took place at Delhi ?????
Even after seeing the car people would describe it just as 'race car'.
Tell me about the state of FSAE ?????
The only coverage of the launch of the cars has been that of Ferrari and Force india . I have even counted the no. of articles so far - 5

Brother wake up this is India , temples are built in the name of cricketers .

In my view,Vijay Mallya love sports. He had been a sponser in F1 for the last 15 years before buying Spyker F1.He have a cricket team in India [Royal Challengers].He have two domestic football clubs in India [East Bengal and Mohun Bagan].He bought Queens Park Rangers FC, as part of the Bernie Ecclestone, Flavio Briatore and Lakshmi Mittal consortium.Mallya also owns the company, United Racing and Bloodstock Breeders (URBB) which has interests in horse racing in Soth Africa. What more,he still has the passion and vigour of a young man.And I think no one would spend money as Mallya does.

Agreed, Mallya raced in old cars years ago, when it was still MUCH more dangerous than it is today...you don't do that unless you have a certain passion for the sport you're partaking in.

On an aside, Mahatma Gandhi's personal belongings were sold at an auction the other day, despite late protests for it not to go ahead. To prevent these treasures from leaving the country Vijay Mallya himself bought them all at the auction to send back to India.

What a selfish thing to do

Not bad for a "Self Aggrandizing p***k" eh?

While that's not F1 related, it does show that there's much more to Vijay Mallya than just "Mr. Wealthy & Successful Businessman." My point is, don't hate just for the sake of hating. Nobody's saying he's perfect, but people always critise others for doing good things by saying "It's all about the money." well even if it's true that the Money is a factor, you can't blame them, like you'd do anything more noble.

Point in case "In the current financial situation its disgusting that professional footballers such as Frank Lampard are getting £150,000 per week salaries." Well yes it is, but if someone comes up to you and says "Here you go, 150k a week for playing football...sound good?" are you going to say "Oh no...thats far too much." Of course not.

Big deal, Ferrari built a special 400th Enzo just for the Pope, and donated it for free as well.

An Enzo doesn't cost one man 1.8m

Seriously tho, as great as that is by Ferrari it doesn't argue against the point that Mallya did a good thing, so good that it demonstates he does care about more than just money as some seem to suggest.

Just because someone else did a good thing doesn't mean that the other man's good thing is now null and void.
