Unless I am terribly mistaken, the scoreboard speaks for itself. Aston Martin have picked up a good driver, but one demonstrably below the level of Ricciardo or Leclerc.

It's impossible to say the relative merits of Alonso and Vettel for sure as they never raced the same car, however statistical analysis shows Alonso having a larger pace advantage over Raikkonen than Vettel which suggests Alonso is quicker than Vettel.

Vettel's WDCs are more akin to those of Hill or Villeneuve. There was a large car advantage. As we saw, Vettel was then immediately defeated by a spectacularly lopsided 8 podiums to 3 podiums. Something which never happened to Prost, Senna or Hamilton.

Alonso's WDCs were closely fought (strangely, against a different opponent in each season) and are more akin to Schumacher's titles at the same Benetton team.

For the first time I am concerned for Ocon alongside Alonso. Reports are Alonso is at it again playing politics to turn Alpine into "his team." Ocon is sort of overlooked already and Alonso is working psychologically suppress Ocon's speed at least. Granted Ocon is no where as fast to peak Alonso, but signs are showing that he is faster than the post sabattical Alonso. It will take some time for Alonso to get back on form but that is too long to prevent embarrassment so Alonso is working assidiuosly to ensure he has every advantage.

Might you clarify if this is based on some report, comment from some team member, article from some journalist, or just your speculation?

2019: Indianapolis, WEC championship, LeMans and Daytona

They know Russell could be world champion, but it's too early for him.

Hamilton vs Alonso was a strange one, it was very close between them, on some instances Alonso was faster, and in others Hamilton was faster. All the politics may have been avoided with another year of waiting for Hamilton and McLaren would have won in both 2007 and 2008.

They don´t need Russell challenge Lewis, when you own the best car you just need one top driver

We fans love two top drivers on best team, but for teams that´s just asking for problems, as McLaren proved both in the 80´s with Senna and Prost and in 2007 with Hamilton and Alonso
