Let's ignore that LeClerc is a hothead that came barging in and was clumsy AF in 2020 just as much.

Yeah, Vettel is Alonso and Ricciardo level easily without the Ferrari chaos thrown at his face.

...

It's really not that hard.
The direct comparisons clearly show Vettel being a lower level of driver than Ricciardo or Leclerc. "It's really not that hard." :)

2014 WDC
Vettel 167 pts, 0 wins, 3 podiums
Ricciardo 238 pts, 3 wins, 8 podiums [43% more points, 167% more podiums]

2019 WDC + 2020 WDC
Vettel 273 pts, 1 win, 10 podiums
Leclerc 362 pts, 2 wins, 12 podiums [33% more points, 20% more podiums]

Unless I am terribly mistaken, the scoreboard speaks for itself. Aston Martin have picked up a good driver, but one demonstrably below the level of Ricciardo or Leclerc.

It's impossible to say the relative merits of Alonso and Vettel for sure as they never raced the same car, however statistical analysis shows Alonso having a larger pace advantage over Raikkonen than Vettel which suggests Alonso is quicker than Vettel.

Do you say the same about last 6 titles of Lewis, that those doesn´t really mean anything?
Vettel's WDCs are more akin to those of Hill or Villeneuve. There was a large car advantage. As we saw, Vettel was then immediately defeated by a spectacularly lopsided 8 podiums to 3 podiums. Something which never happened to Prost, Senna or Hamilton.

Alonso's WDCs were closely fought (strangely, against a different opponent in each season) and are more akin to Schumacher's titles at the same Benetton team.

This complete biased bs as the post 2013 Mercedes cars have been some of the most dominant F1 cars in history.

And obviously it's easier to stay on top of your team mate when you're facing the likes of Kovalainen and Bottas and being in a clear no1 diver position with the whole team backing you vs facing your teams new prodigy on your way out.

But anyways. I know it's wasted time, arguing with someone who claims 2016-2020 Bottas being on par with prime Alonso.

No, the point was that Hamilton was never defeated so comprehensively by any teammate (not by Alonso, not by Button, not by Rosberg) the way Vettel was defeated by Ricciardo. This shows Hamilton to be more Prost or Senna like than Vettel. Prost and Senna, like Hamilton, were never comprehensively defeated by any teammate.

The same for Alonso, Alonso was never defeated the way Vettel was defeated, not by any of Alonso's teammates. This could be a reason why Alpine preferred Alonso to Vettel.

There is no question, Hamilton's titles were collected in a dominant car. :)

For the first time I am concerned for Ocon alongside Alonso. Reports are Alonso is at it again playing politics to turn Alpine into "his team." Ocon is sort of overlooked already and Alonso is working psychologically suppress Ocon's speed at least. Granted Ocon is no where as fast to peak Alonso, but signs are showing that he is faster than the post sabattical Alonso. It will take some time for Alonso to get back on form but that is too long to prevent embarrassment so Alonso is working assidiuosly to ensure he has every advantage.
Might you clarify if this is based on some report, comment from some team member, article from some journalist, or just your speculation?

Anycase its funny to read the post sabattical Alonso. He´s been two years out of F1

2019: Indianapolis, WEC championship, LeMans and Daytona
2020: Indianapolis and Dakar

He won WEC title, LeMans and Daytona, not bad for two sabattical years :P
WEC title without competition doesn't really mean anything, it's why it's almost never brought up. That year was a farce.
So you basically just admitted F1 has been a farce since the engine change.

Thank you. Couldn’t agree more.
Watching F1 since 1986.

They know Russell could be world champion, but it's too early for him.

Hamilton vs Alonso was a strange one, it was very close between them, on some instances Alonso was faster, and in others Hamilton was faster. All the politics may have been avoided with another year of waiting for Hamilton and McLaren would have won in both 2007 and 2008.

Probably has to do with the main 'tweet' on the F1 twitter :

Just some enthusiast's F1 Fantasy claim :P

also......Alpine updates might be a bit 'unobjective'

They don´t need Russell challenge Lewis, when you own the best car you just need one top driver

We fans love two top drivers on best team, but for teams that´s just asking for problems, as McLaren proved both in the 80´s with Senna and Prost and in 2007 with Hamilton and Alonso

1/2 a lap is "fraction of a lap". It's all in the way one sells it! 8)
