This has cleared things up for me immeasurably.

Yes as quick! On their second runs Verstappen was .15 faster than Hamilton. Hamilton did it when it counted and all credit goes to him for nailing that lap. It'll be a great race tomorrow, if Verstappen leads into turn 1 it's his race to lose. The starts are something Honda has been working on.NathanOlder wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 16:16RedBull not as quick as you were suggesting then ?godlameroso wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 16:12WOWOWOWOWOWOW Incredible job from Hamilton, I did not see that coming, less than a tenth between Ham and Ver. Holee crap. Century pole man.
Huh? Perez long runs were within a tenth of Hamilton...He dropped the ball in qualifying, however I still think he can finish ahead of the Ferraris.
Nope. Verstappen was 0.143 behind Hamilton's best time when he passed the S2 line.godlameroso wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 16:53Yes as quick! On their second runs Verstappen was .15 faster than Hamilton. Perez is here to mess up Mercedes strategy options, not for fightning with Ferraris.godlameroso wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 17:04Huh? Perez long runs were within a tenth of Hamilton...He dropped the ball in qualifying, however I still think he can finish ahead of the Ferraris.
Maybe they should sign up Russell of Bottas? Though of course at this point we don't know about the handling characteristics of next year's cars.
On their fastest laps Hamilton was faster in sector 2, but in their second runs when both lost time Verstappen was .15 seconds faster. Those laps didn't count but it shows there's a slight pace advantage to the Bull. The power of the undercut is massive, and there's 66 laps and there could be a safety car or VSC. However the fact we don't know who's going to win should make this exciting.Tvetovnato wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 17:06Nope. Red Bull doesn't do that unless they know they're starting from the pitlane, otherwise they just make the car as fast as possible and let the drivers deal with managing things.PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 17:10An important bit of information came from Lewis during his post qualy ibterveiw: Mercedes compromized qualy to set the the car up for the race so he wasn't happy with the qualy balance at all . If RedBull had done the opposite it should make for an interesting first stint.
Lewis and his informations. Did he also say something about "tyres going down"? >__>PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 17:10An important bit of information came from Lewis during his post qualy ibterveiw
Verstappen was slower on the first run, and on the second run, that's all that matters. You can come up with all the ifs, ands, and buts you want, but you're still just grasping at straws.godlameroso wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 17:11On their fastest laps Hamilton was faster in sector 2, but in their second runs when both lost time Verstappen was .15 seconds faster.
Sorry, but that does simply make no sense at all lol. Had he been actually ahead of Lewis’ time at that point I would definitely agree, but he wasn’t, hence the Bull was not quicker today.godlameroso wrote: ↑08 May 2021, 17:11On their fastest laps Hamilton was faster in sector 2, but in their second runs when both lost time Verstappen was .15 seconds faster.
