We watching the same race? He was catching at more than 1s per lap.
Yes, but Max knew he had to look after his tyres, and he knows that Lewis has to pass him on track. And we know how difficult that is.
Yes, but you dont let hamilton sit in your drs for half the race if you can help it. That's all they got.
He got within DRS, had DRS and is back over a second back the next lap. Max just needs to be quick in the right part of the lap and Lewis won't pass him. This is Max's race to lose. If he keeps his head then he's got it in the bag.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

We'll see. Wasn't really the case in first stint. Depends on how durable medium is.

He's basically a gte am driver in le mans. Just waiting for a big incident caused by him this year
What I don’t get is that he got a bollocking, grid penalty and penalty points just last weekend for exactly the same damn thing. He is clearly just really dense.
I think it might just be a capability thing. Maybe he’s just having to use too much of his capacity on keeping the car on track to be able to process and react to the flags as he should.
Then he needs removing from it.

This, plus the simple fact that money can't buy talent. Daddy might be rich enough to buy the seat, but Sonny just plain isn't good enough.

Max is lucky this track it is almost impossible to overtake or he would've been past by now, doesn't look good for him for the season when we get to tracks where you can overtake.

I would not argue with that at all. I think it’s too soon for him to be in F1. Probably the pressure of Haas really needing the sponsorship money.

But for that reason, I think he’s in the team to stay- rightly or wrongly. If they drop him then all the money goes away.

Way to go Mercedes

You have just re-energised the most boring race of the season so far....

Game on!

Why didn't they leave him out one more lap to go for the overtake. Is Mercedes strategists watching the car on track or just crunching numbers

Bottas has no obligation to let Hamilton past. 2nd place is better than 3rd, for Bottas' WDC challenge. :)

Hamilton will have to overtake of his own accord against the Finnish ace. ;)

Wow can't see Lewis catching him in time unfortunately, but guess it was worth a try.

That's made it interesting. But the same issue exists - this is not an overtaking track.
