Mercedes looking very composed. Sandbagging.

Looking forward to see what Charles will do in FP2
In theory Monaco is about building up pace towards qualifying. There's supposedly no point in sandbagging based on that.

Yeah but you can do that with more relative fuel and lower engine settings too. I just have a feeling that Merc will be ahead of Sainz at the end of Q3 for example.

I agree, if they are confident in their car being consistent/predictable in how it responds to less fuel and more power, putting in a lot of fuel certainly allows them to find a rhythm. For Red Bull and Mercedes both, unless they make mistakes they should have Q1 and Q2 to tweak the last bits on how the car goes with low fuel before taking it all out in Q3.

Hamilton just raised the bar there. All on mediums, same track conditions, half a second up

Mercedes advantage seems to be in S2

Some lovely trading of times between Hamilton and Verstappen there. Tomorrow could be a humdinger.

Brundle is standing literally inches from where the cars are going past with just the barrier between them. Must be magic to watch.

Watching the onboards, Hamilton is totally undramatic while Verstappen seems to have to push quite hard..

Yeah that run through Tabac was a little risky. He's dancing on the edge with that one.

Genuinely I came close to writing that! I didn't want to get called out for sounding like Jim Ross from WWE though :)
